Trying to keep my head above water...
Oh, that IS a perfect album. This was mine.

What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

Wonderfalls really did have everything - great characters, great cast (including an early role for Lee Pace). Would have been perfect for the streaming era, was just a little before its time.

I was well aware of the hot summers in my city of residence before moving here.

Accordingly, I limit myself to ONE (1) social media post complaining about the heat a year.

This is the 2025 post. #damnitshot

I know many of my favorites will be mentioned by others, so I'll include the one I think has been all but forgotten, as it was a TV movie.

It was the first Bette Davis film I saw: The Dark Secret of Harvest Home.

I've always called them "albums" whether they were on vinyl, cassette, CD or in an MP3 format.

I fell (back?) down the vinyl rabbit hole about 10 years ago - and a number of younger music fans collect vinyl as well. So "album" may not be completely lost to the ages.

Happy Canada Day to all who celebrate!

Every inch of my bedroom walls was covered with various magazine photos - but this is one of the big posters I had early on.....

Reading THE LONELY CITY by Olivia Laing, an engaging mix of stories of artists.

This text, though.....suggests these words represent Warhol's struggle with English. But I recognize these terms as "Pittsburghese," the way people in Pittsburgh speak. So he would have been learning the local lingo.

Happy birthday to Jimmy Stewart.

If the paper trail is correct, he's a distant cousin of mine. (Still have to calculate the distance.)

This is him and his father in Jimmy's hometown of Indiana, Pennsylvania.

My parents didn't explain much and our school health class was even more confusing.

I learned from a few older kids in the neighborhood and also from a dogeared copy of this. Spoiler alert: it's a terrible book for any gay kid to read (or was).

.....I met Wendy Wasserstein, and she was warm, generous and funny. I told her about my own dreams of writing, and she signed a copy of The Sisters Rosensweig for me.

Her interest and generosity was such a tremendous gift - I'll never forget it.

kd lang is one of my favorite musicians, period.

If I had to filter to Canadian only, it would be a hard choice between kd and one Roberta Joan Anderson......

Surprised by this little sprout in the yard.

May not look like much....but the funny thing is, I planted these seeds.....a year ago? Two years ago?

A needed reminder that sometimes it takes hope to have the vision to plant seeds......and it takes time and patience for our efforts to bear fruit.
