Making Mythmatch, an anti-capitalist merge game. Previously worked on Knights and Bikes, LittleBigPlanet, and Ratchet & Clank.

Wishlist Mythmatch on Steam: s.team/a/1778050
And today, he created these to play "Guess Who" with the characters from Athena's mini game.

I'm such a proud dad!

I made a little Ink validation tool for Mythmatch and it has been a godsend.

At first, it just checked if any game data referenced knots that didn't exist. But then I added checking speaker names for typos. Then sentence formatting.

So many errors caught and fixed!

It's been such a joy watching playtesters react the various layers of her writing from the heartfelt moments, to rage-inducing Hermes, and all the puns and jokes along the way!

And I cannot express how grateful I am at how much she taught me about writing from structure to theme to even dialog.

Lara (@larabarbier.bsky.social) has wrapped up all of her writing and editing work for Mythmatch!

She was so patient writing treatment after treatment and draft after draft to find a story about belonging and rejection that fit perfectly with the merge mechanics of the game.

I'm doing the 4th edit pass on the Mythmatch script (me, @larabarbier.bsky.social, @carlyreadsinbed.bsky.social, me again) and I still always laugh at my own jokes.

Hopefully you all find them funny too. 😬

We finally made custom controller buttons for Mythmatch instead of using a random set from the internet and I had to put @tinystorm.bsky.social through about 5 iterations because I kept forgetting buttons.

Proud at how few buttons the game uses, though.

When you're wife is editing your game's copy and she starts finding jokes inspired by her in the game. 😬

More recently she's been adding tons of little details like gorgons turning things to stone, harpies smelling horribly, etc.

She ended up working just 6 days on the project, but has had a huge impact in bringing more life into our little world.

I'll start with Renate Noel-Tagoe (@insertcat.bsky.social) our VFX artist.

I believe Mythmatch was Renate's first paid VFX work, but her talent was obvious in her portfolio. She started out making this building upgrade effect, which is a centerpiece in videos / trailers.

I might not be making Hades 3, but if this is what anyone is after, PLEASE check out Mythmatch and help spread the word to others who might want this because I am making this and it is good!

Might be a bit difficult to play, but might be worth it for the cuteness. Ha ha ha.

In Hephaestus's Forge, you can get a little Fire Fox Friend (or two) to help out with the crafting. Now at the right size even!

Got some lovely animations for this little guy from Hollie. Might have gotten the initial scale wrong, though.

This is what happens when you realize your TikToks do better if they start uncomfortably close to your face. 😂

Ever unsure how to say the names of the Greek Gods?

Lots of our Mythmatch playtesters were confused so we decided to add the pronounciations subtlely in the corner of the dialog box to help out.

Is it too subtle? Are we going to start the pronounciation debates? DEH-muh-tur or duh-MEE-tur??

I've been playing Pokemon Pocket and I've opened 7 packs of the new set and SIX of them have had this guy in them.

The funny thing is that my son has one card flipped backwards in his IRL binder because he "doesn't like his face" and it's Relicanth. I hate him too now.

Genuinely, it's a wonderful feeling to start a day with a long task list.

I took a lot of the advice that was given to me for playing with fresh eyes and did a full play through of the game and generated a long list of tasks to fix before my next playtest.

Just briefed @tinystorm.bsky.social for a new creature design and these were the four references. What in the world could it be?

Also, an insight what it's like working with me (who has no idea what I'm doing).

If you see this, quote this post with a title screen that is iconic to you.

I've been watching back playtest videos (thanks @popelady.bsky.social!) and I'm surprised by how much people use their mouse to play Mythmatch.

One little request from @sanjum2.bsky.social led me down the path from "enough mouse support to rebind your keys" to a pretty robust implementation.
