It's not using the exact same cut and cloth as the past, not text-over-sockets, but the new world that's held up here for despisememt here looks so much like all the virtues and upsides of what the author is celebrating, that the old world only quasi delivered.

(because you need, like, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi services running all the time, you want to hot-plug USB flash drives, you want more permission granularity for random stuff you're installing, you want packages to be fenced and easy to install and uninstall, etc)
