New purchase: THE SALUTE OF THE JUGGER (aka THE BLOOD OF HEROES). The only film directed by David Webb Peoples (Blade Runner, Twelve Monkeys). Starring Rutger Hauer, Joan Chen, Delroy Lindo, Hugh Keays-Byrne, Richard Norton and Vincent D'Onofrio. Mad Max meets Rollerball? Can't wait to watch it.

I liked THE RIP, but did they play it too safe in the end? You think the film might be the TREASURE OF SIERRA MADE with cops, TRIPPLE FRONTIER with cops, or maybe a better SABOTAGE. But in the end the film it reminded me the most of: John McTiernan's 2003 millitery thriller BASIC.

Tomorrow ANTHEM will official be a dead game, and you can never play it again. It wasn't a great game, but it still had solid mechanics and a beautiful world developers put their heart and soul into. It's a should have been converted into a single player offline experience. #stopkillinggames

So what will be next for Trump? Going for Greenland?

With Trump giving no fucks about other countries suverinity, and nobody doing anything about, why will China not follow after and invade Taiwan? Unless Taiwan makes a deal with Trump, for like a lot of CPUs for protecting Taiwan.

I have been looking at his face on and off all day, recognizing him, but not understanding why I would regonize a children's author. Until I saw that he was in a little British comedy show. They all call him a children's author, but is not where I think most people remember him from.
They don’t say from what height

My last of my Blackfriday haul came in the mail today. One Cut of the Dead and Driver was the on sale items, but I saw it as an oppertunity to grab the Jet Li film and the two Jackie Chan films. 2 days ago I got my Arrow Video order. A couple of newer titles, but mostly stuff I wanted.

Brilliant article and interviews. It really explains why the human research is important. After the Marathon incident, it really shows how important it is to now where the art references comes from. It will be a lot more cases of stolen art with use of AI.
I think a lot of the discussion around AI isn't specific enough or informed enough, and that's why this piece from @edmondtran.bsky.social is so useful and important. These are actual concept artists spelling out in clear, unambiguous terms why Gen-AI is not only unhelpful, it's a nuisance.
We spoke to a dozen professional concept artists who are currently or have previously worked in game development about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs any easier.

Zero said it did. Most said it made things harder.

Martyrs, A Serbian Film and The Passion of Christ. Martyrs is the only one that I actually own. I might rewatch the 80 minute behind the scenes documentary again.

Everytime Warner Bros buy a company or getting bought I take it personally. Since HBO Max was introduced back in 2021 I got a 50% off life time deal. I think it was like $4. But then they bought Discovery, and this fall they raised the price again, so I pay like $9. They try to get out of it.

Louis Fan has a film on iQIYI that is so bad, that you have to watch it to believe it. This 63 minutes of random vignetts put together, that tries to look cool, but is so incompetant that you will laugh from beginning to end. Did they forgot to shoot the full film? This is a 1 star with a heart!

Sometimes I like to find some random shit on iQIYI. Today is this (different tile on Letterboxd than on iQIYI). Not a single review or rating. It's like being the first man on moon.

This might actually kill Bioware and perhaps even Respawn, if Mass Effect 4 doesn't become a big hit, or Apex Legend gets a lot of players back. I'm afraid what they could do to future Battlefield games. I feel 6 is still safe, but what happens after that is a big question mark. Yearly Battlefield?
It’s official: EA is going private.

The leveraged buyout will be financed by a staggering $20 billion of debt, which likely means some *aggressive* cost cutting is ahead for EA in the coming months and years.

With AI why the fuck do you need you Alex Proyas? Why not skip the director and studio completly and let us just tell AI what film we want to see? I'm sure that would not end up as horror show. "Make me a sequel to Dark City by Alex Proyas" I bet that would go well.

RIP Scott Spiegel. Most known him as being a friend of Sam Raimi and Quentin Tarantino, and directing Intruder. While he co-wrote not only Evil Dead 2, but also The Rookie (the Clint Eastwood/Charlie Sheen film) with Boaz Yakin. I always will have a soft spot for FDTD: Texas Blood Money.
Fango is sad to hear the news of Scott Spiegel's passing. Spiegel, a lifelong friend and collaborator of Sam Raimi, co-wrote EVIL DEAD 2 and wrote/directed the 1989 slasher INTRUDER in addition to his many film credits.

This means exactly what you're thinking

AIR BUD RETURNS is here to set up AIR BUD: ENDGAME, the climax of the cinematic universe!

The only thing certain in life is death and taxes. And for the rich people it's only death. I'm not going say we should celebrate the death of Hulk Hogan, but I never going to give him another thought unless I'm watching Rocky III or Gremlins 2.

He sure did like to say the N-word. Remember that.
