Moments of happiness in research...when a book chapter you wrote about Russian propaganda is cited in a journal article on Lithuanian political discourse. As the daughter of a Lithuanian, I feel especially proud that my research might be contributing in some small way to important work 🇱🇹❤️

Wow, listening to this poem and reading the comments section is very insightful. Knowledge needs to be open and free, not behind paywalls and expensive degrees...

The new Penguin Archive Series is pretty nice. Feels slightly surreal though reading classics that now need to contain warning statements against AI training systems. #booksky💙📚

Super fascinating book, read it in one sitting. As someone who has only lived through the contemporary university, it was interesting to read about the history of universities in Australia and the effects of government policies. I hope universities always remain a public good. #booksky💙📚

"The family is the cradle of the world's misinformation".

Lots to unpack in this paragraph from Don Delillo's White Noise.

Reading Don Delillo's White Noise.

"Tuition at the College-on-the-Hill is fourteen thousand dollars, Sunday brunch included. I sense there is a connection between this powerful number and the way the students arrange themselves physically in the reading areas of the library."

Looking forward to reading this book! Very fascinated about the concept of 'connective labour' with all the gen AI discourse currently around.

Reading different perspectives. I like Simon Squibb's TikToks - helping people achieve their dreams is very admirable. But in his media interviews he says "university is a scam" that I find disturbing as someone who has devoted all their adult years so far to universities. (thread) #booksky 💙📚

I'm still reading this book on weekends.

Love the word 'serendipity' in this context...it feels like the opposite to the 'statistical probability' that governs generative AI models.

So for example, if you search for oliviainwood.com (or @oliviainwood.com@bsky.brid.gy) on Mastodon you get linked to the content from my Bluesky account (image of what it looks like attached).

It's fun experimenting with new ways to use social media!
