According to the King County 2024 point-in-time count, North King County had the worst homeless shelter shortage in the county. The 2024 KCRHA PIT Count estimated 1,900 people were experiencing homelessness in North King County, but there were only 198 beds

A year ago, LFP became the first city to install 24-hour speed cameras authorized under a new state law. Ticket revenue funded traffic safety studies, court clerks, police officers, and new police cars. Crosswalks and more cameras may also be funded. local.interurbancanopy.news/p/lake-fores...

The Shoreline city council abolished parking mandates at the August 11th meeting, joining Bothell, Spokane, Port Townsend, Bellingham, and Bremerton in scrapping the “arbitrary” rules.

I had coffee with State Representative Lauren Davis to talk about the 2025 session. She discussed her Domestic Violence Co-Responder (HB 1498) and Certified Peer Support Specialists (SHB 1427) bills. Both passed with bi-partisan support.

I wonder if LFP is also be out of compliance with the same state law and county policies. LFP has not allowed shelters where hotels are allowed as required under HB1220. And AHC said the LFP plan had problems similar to Mercer Island's local.interurbancanopy.news/p/lake-fores...

LFP council approved a ballot measure to fund police. Despite cuts, the city still faces a deficit saying police costs have increased. Similar to other Sheriff contract cities, neighboring Shoreline and Kenmore spend 40% less per-capita on police than LFP
