Vicky Kosta and I wrote a short commentary on the recent discussions and developments on academic & scientific freedom at the European Parliament. What are the ways forward and what expectations can be met? Some themes to reflect upon as the topic is gaining momentum in the EU. 🇪🇺

Happy to be starting my study visit at the EP Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA)! I will observe the work on academic freedom, in particular the upcoming studies on Horizon Europe. The visit supports my re:constitution project on Article 13 CFR and the scope of EU intervention.

‘Shared competence in education would mean… stronger mechanisms to deal with breaches of academic freedom’ I’m sceptical re feasibility of the Treaty change but these are interesting debates to follow.
