Tom Lehrer has died. His songs were central to my childhood and his dark, cynical humor strongly influenced mine. I will not mourn as he was 97, but celebrate his brilliance and how he got me through many dark times.

Ever read HP Lovecraft? In "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" the locals start developing a characteristic appearance as they age, known as "the Innsmouth look", due to them interbreeding with the Elder Gods to bring them wealth and prosperity.

I went grocery shopping this afternoon, and as I went through the frozen food aisle and as I passed the Tater Tots I hissed in my best Gollum voice "Taters, precious! No, we don't needs them! Keep your nasty taters, precious!"
