he desperately needs to believe this because the people he most enjoys yelling at online have been consistently saying for over 20 years that lesser evilism and fetishization of bipartisanship would inevitably lead to exactly what's happening now
You do not have to “disavow linear time and causality” to note that the centrality contingency makes history only “predictable” in retrospect. Like I said, “stuff just happens” is oversimplified, but it should probably be our starting point rather than assuming any particular cause for anything
