Well, fuck! Just got a message from my university that we can no longer spend money on our NSF-funded grants. This is as good as having the grants taken away from us.
Welp…NSF will now suspend the awarding of new and existing research grants until further notice.
Exclusive: NSF stops awarding new grants and funding existing ones
US science funder also plans to screen grant applications for compliance with ‘agency priorities’.

Oh its about to hit the ceiling now: "Currently, some universities get 50 percent or more of the amount of a grant in indirect funds... The new policy would cap those indirect funds at 15 percent... The policy is set to take effect Monday."

Just got word that our Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) Inclusive Excellence 3 (IE3) Grant was being canceled. All 100+ institutions. So even private funding is susceptible to this administration’s unraveling of DEI initiatives

Anyone else hearing that NIH IC’s Advisory Council meetings are being cancelled?
NIH council meeting (NIDCR)scheduled for today, where our R01 grant (3rd percentile) was supposed to be discussed, was postponed indefinitely as a consequence of Trump's executive order which ordered pausing of all communications from all federal agencies. Not good.
