Hi, I'm Yen! I'm a botanist based in Naarm (Melbourne, Aus) who likes to make art and photography in my free time (and when my cats let me). Most of my photography and botany stuff is over @botanybyyen.bsky.social , but I'll use this page for my less academic work. 😊

Ahhhh I turned her into a sticker!! I got a cameo for my birthday and it's amazing. I get nerve pain in my arms and wrists from kyphosis and not having to do fiddly cutting is incredible. 😭😭

Drawing more bugs today using my photos as refs: a darkling beetle and a juvenile Ellipsidion australe (Aussie bush cockroach)! I've drawn a few darkling beetles before but I wanted to do a new one to make stickers ❤️

Okay the best thing about having sticker paper is you can just...make stickers. No one can stop you!!

Ahhh this is fantastic!! About 4 years ago I was hunting for an alternative to photoshop (for photography, and with focus-stacking capacity), wish I'd had this reference. I settled on Affinity and I do love it. They have big sales often so don't buy at full price.

So anyway, I created an updated version of that XdanielArt chart that contains all the Adobe alternatives since there are a lot more now than there were back when that list was originally made, and Adobe has continued to get shittier and shittier.

Having a hysterectomy is wild, because 3 years later I'm still like "why am I feeling crappy today? Why am I exhausted? Why is my stomach upset? Why am I overheating??" and I freak out thinking I'm sick because I forget you still get pms.
