Interesting that hormones were denied to afab nbs and trans men about as equally with a slightly bigger gap between them and amab nbs and trans women, while the surgery denial gap is a little closer with binary trans people being denied more often

The one that I’ve already read and my interlocutors usually haven’t, so that I might fully grasp how reductive it is to assert that men exploit women under patriarchy. After all, would I really claim that white women oppress men of color? “What a fascinating question,” I tend to remark. “I have one of my own, if you would care to ponder it for a moment?” “In societies that aren’t locally white-hegemonic and multiracial—in patriarchal cultures all over the third world, for example, do ‘men of color’ oppress ‘women of color’?” To date, I haven’t received a calm answer to my question, leave alone an actual apology.

It was never Kimberlé Crenshaw’s intention to exclude women who defend their sex from the all-encompassing prism her theoretical analysis provides. On the contrary, she admits that there have been “distortions” to its purpose and reminds those who utilise her analytical tool that it was never meant to be “identity politics on steroids.” The legal scholar’s warning has gone, so far, unheeded by her own self-professed disciples. Perhaps because “intersectional feminists” do not want to respect her intentions, and instead prefer to project their own reinterpretations of the theory, as opposed to what Crenshaw truly meant. She acknowledges this crux, stating during an interview with left-wing political magazine Vox: Usually with ideas that people take seriously, they actually try to master them, or at least try to read the sources that they are citing for the proposition. Often, that doesn’t happen with intersectionality, and there are any number of theories as to why that’s the case, but what many people have heard or know about intersectionality comes more from what people say than what they’ve actually encountered themselves. Crenshaw is a veteran activist and theorist, but it is young feminists who have enthusiastically turned intersectionality into a feminist cornerstone. When I ask her why, she laughs. “As a term, ‘intersectionality’ has been around since the late 80s,” she says, “so there is something to be said about it being taken up in a robust way 30 years on. It’s like a lazy Susan – you can subject race, sexuality, transgender identity or class to a feminist critique through intersectionality.” But Crenshaw is aware of pitfalls. “Some people can use [intersectionality] as a way to deflect a critique of patriarchy – by saying: ‘How can there be any full structural critique when we are so many different things at the same time?’”

Yes I'm going to keep adding radical feminists saying that patriarchy is the basis of all oppression because that seems to be the only tenet beyond "patriarchy bad and can't be torn down using the tools it built" (common feminist thought in 2025) while trying to explain how misunderstood rf is.
Radical feminism is simply a form of feminism that does not believe women can achieve gender equality within existing patriarchal power structures. It emerged in the 1960s as part of second-wave feminism, distinguishing itself from mainstream forms of feminism with its belief that all patriarchal institutions must be destroyed and rebuilt for women’s oppression to end. As Shulamith Firestone explains in her key text The Dialectics of Sex (1970, [2015]), the goal of radical feminism is The overthrow of the oldest, most rigid class/caste system in existence, the class system based on sex — a system consolidated over thousands of years, lending the archetypal male and female roles an undeserved legitimacy and seeming permanence.

That women form a social class is an inherent part of Radical Feminism. Ti-Grace Atkinson wrote in 1974 that: 'The analysis begins with the feminist raison d'etre that women are a class, that this class is political in nature, and that this political class is oppressed. From this point on, Radical Feminism separates from traditional feminism' (p. 41). She saw the 'male/female system' as 'the first and most fundamental instance of human oppression', adding that 'all other class systems are built on top of it'. Patriarchy is the domination of men over women. Kate Millett's early work (1971) is a good example of the approach that 'sex is a status category with political implications'. Male power, that is patriarchy, dominates over class, religion, race, and culture, though it appears in varied forms at different historical periods. Millett explored this enforcement of male power through ideology, biology, myth, the family, . economic and educational opportunities, and through the use of force by men. Shulamith Firestone's analysis (1970), on the other hand, placed more power on biology and the entrapment of women through their reproductive ability. If that trap was removed, she argued, women would have greater opportunities for equality.

Radical feminism was progressive for its peak, but the movement lacks an intersectional lens, as it views gender as the most important axis of oppression. Like many feminist movements before and after it, it was dominated by white women and lacked a racial justice lens. Since Kimberlé Crenshaw coined the term intersectionality, giving a name to the practices and writings of Black women before her, feminism has been moving towards a movement to end all oppression.
