Now that’s a transformation! What was once a neat lawn at Berrington Hall in Herefordshire is now a vibrant space for pollinators.

Over 53,000 plants make up the new flower garden, which draws inspiration from a garden that was originally part of ‘Capability’ Brown’s design but lost over time.

Our partners at Pesticide Action Network UK have uncovered that 354 tonnes of pesticides were sprayed in towns and cities in 2024.

We are in a #ButterflyEmergency, with long-term declines that need us all to take action to reduce the use of harmful chemicals, councils included.

Not just an artist – I’m also a gardener 🌱

When I’m not drawing, I’m dreaming about plants or getting my hands in the soil, nurturing beauty as it grows!

I’ve had an allotment plot for three years now, and I’ve fallen in love with growing food, flowers, and creating a space for pollinators.

✨Completely enchanted by these dreamy stamp designs! Feeling so inspired!

The beautiful illustrations of flowers, birds, and butterflies feel like tiny works of art. 🌸🦢🦋🎨

✨Imagine if UK stamps looked like this… every letter would feel like a little keepsake.

Royal Mail, take notes!

🦋 Second butterfly count of the day! Swung by the allotment for a quick harvest - and couldn’t resist a butterfly headcount while I was there!

I also spotted a Hummingbird hawk moth on arrival. I had to do a double take, I was so surprised to see it there!

Gearing up for the Big Butterfly Count 🦋 and taking a moment to let creativity flutter, too.

There seem to be so many butterflies this year - it's looking promising compared to last summer!

Who else is joining in the Big Count this year?

✨ Moth magic this morning! ✨

Four stunning Swallow-tailed Moths in the trap - and plenty more fluttering around at dawn. This was my first moth trap but I'm guessing it's peak season for these elegant summer visitors.

"Be where your feet are."

Stay grounded in your surroundings,
Appreciate the nature around you,
And take meaningful action to support pollinators in your area.

"Think globally, act locally."

Consider the world as a whole, but make a difference in your own community.

As the days grow longer & the first whispers of warmth brush across the UK, numerous pollinators such as bees, butterflies & hoverflies awaken eager for food. The humble primrose, with its sunshine yellow blooms, is one of the first wildflowers to blossom offering essential nectar for these critters

Winter is a season for letting our imaginations wander. As someone who loves creativity, I find joy in exploring the artwork of past artists & valuing the natural history they’ve captured through their unique perspectives. Here are some paintings of 🪻🌼meadows that our pollinators would surely enjoy.

Just 1 teaspoon of neonicotinoids can kill 1.25 BILLION bees.

Yesterday, over 1 million voices told the UK Government: stop allowing banned pesticides in our countryside.

DEFRA, it’s time to end ‘emergency’ use.

Protect pollinators vital to nature's recovery & our food security.

Winter is an excellent time to plan for the upcoming gardening season & think of ways to support pollinators

🪻Consider adding native flowering plants to your garden

🐝Reduce pesticide usage

🐛Create habitats like insect hotels & log piles

🦋Daydream about enjoying a picnic in a wildflower meadow

A January Fun Fact:

Here's the cool thing about moths in January - they are one of the few insects that can be seen actively pollinating in the chilly UK winter. While most other pollinators are dormant, these winter-hardy moths are out doing their job, pollinating the few winter-blooming plants.💪❄️

✨Who loves Pollinators?🙋‍♀️✨

Fact: Pollinators, such as bees, butterflies & birds play a critical role in our ecosystems; they are responsible for the pollination of over 75% of the world’s flowering plants, including approximately 35% of global food crops.💛
