DJNO, @DisabilityPM, @ODSPAction & disabled organizers from around Ontario have put together a new post-election platform: EndAusterity.ca. Friends, this is bigger than any election. Enough is enough—30 years of austerity & social murder of disabled people needs to end.

Really disappointing. Canada has some of the most punitive HIV criminalization regime, and it's well past time that we need to address the harms of criminalization.
The Government of Canada has told the Canadian Coalition to Reform HIV Criminalization (CCRHC) that it is abandoning any plans for law reform on HIV criminalization.

CCRHC is hosting a press conference in Ottawa right now.

Sometimes the loneliness hits hard - as was the case for me tonight

You flare & pain keeps you awake all night. The world is quiet. Everyone is asleep. You’re acutely aware of just HOW alone you are.

Rinse & repeat. This is life with chronic illness. It’s isolating, repetitive & filled with loss.
Being disabled and chronically ill is beyond lonely. Far too many people in society can’t comprehend illnesses which are permanent & unrelenting but don’t necessarily kill you. As a result they EXPECT you to get better.

When you don’t - they abandon you.

“Can’t you just rest more?”

“I wish I could lay in bed all day!”

“You’re so lucky I wish I didn’t have to work!”

“Why are you tired you don’t DO anything?”

These are the types of comments disabled people deal with every day.

Then there’s the harmful inner monologue 🧵/1

I’m exhausted.
And I’m pretending like 5 pm on a Friday means something to me… 10 minutes to go.

I can't stop thinking about how disabled people with more abilities have treated disabled people with less abilities. We need to talk about that a lot more, and the lateral violence within community. I am definitely guilty of it, and I want to make a conscious effort to do better.

Doing some quick but important research. I’m looking for evidence that folks with disabilities (mental heath related, addictions, neurodiversity, etc.) are disproportionately criminalized or face professional disciplinary measure. Canadian context is a bonus. Hit me with stats and sources, please!

Preach
We can't talk about inclusion, equity, accessibility, or disability justice without also including chronically ill or medically vulnerable people.

Dear Bluesky universe, I’m looking for a “protect trans kids” shirt to gift. Tell me where you got yours. I’d like to be sure the money goes to a trans artist or organization.
