as a woman on the internet, there's no amount of stupid that you can sarcastically pretend to be that will actually read as sarcasm, because there's no limit to how stupid your interlocutor is willing to believe you are. In a sane world this would be funny but this guy WOULD just believe me 😭

"you're not allowed to reply until you demonstrate an understanding of what OP was actually saying" ... probably wouldn't actually fix social media because people will find ways to dig their heels in and die on stupid hills no matter what, BUT god I wish we had this feature anyway 😭
As a teacher, I wholeheartedly agree. Reading comprehension is poor and growing worse as the years go by.
I wish there was an option for micro posts: add a reading comprehension quiz which would lock people from leaving a comment until complete.

the electronic signs on DC metro platforms say "BRD" while the train is at the platform, which always unscrolled into "Be Right Dere" in my head. I didn't think it actually stood for that, but I couldn't think of anything else that made sense and I'd never bothered to ask. Anyway it's "boarding"

was completely fine but now i'm sobbing bc i remembered that (as far as i know) every language has a word for mother that sounds something like "mama" because that's the first consonant that babies can reliably produce

i know some people believe that if a region has popular anti-gay beliefs in systemic politics then it deserves to be bombed to rubble, but we'd have to move half the music industry outta nashville first and i just think that's too much of a hassle
