I feel old, but I was reflecting on the news. When I was a kid, “breaking news” was for something huge and historically relevant. Now I hear “breaking news” all the time and it has lost all meaning.

@brandontoksmovies.bsky.social loved the video about the Fire Masters. Btw, on Iroh: he knew but kept it secret because he had doubts about his brothers ambitions. Plus, his wisdom only really develops after the death of his son. He was a father first, a respected general second, and brother third.

“Why should we care about a mayoral race?”

It wasn’t just a mayoral race. It was a mayoral race of one of the most influential cities in the world, New York City. It’s a city that shapes the world finance, art, science and policy. From NYC, the world responds.

#Memdani won trust of people & world.

@stjepansejic.bsky.social Curious: kickstarter was a massive success for After Hours (I have my copy and whoo…..that was a fun read).

Have you ever thought to use kickstarter as a way to finish off the unfinished stories?

@jamesgunn.bsky.social Not sure if anyone has said this to you yet.

You’re doing a great job at DC. There are kids, teens and adults who will discover new stories from what you’re doing.

Keep it up.

@brandontoksmovies.bsky.social justice want to say, really enjoying your Avatar TikTok series. You put a lot of effort into editing and research, and it shows. Keep it up, I’m really looking forward to you seeing the end.

Please try, if possible, to avoid spoilers.

Over the last three years, my wife and I have made a proper effort to go and see musicals and plays at theatres, about once every 2 months. It has felt like my soul cup is refilled every time a show ends. There’s something about an audience, a performance, and a sense of community. #musicals

Something to think about. Most people are civil offline. Some are even kind. When you disconnect from devices and seek reconnection with people, the world feels more balanced. More real.

I don’t like or dislike the #military. Every nation has one, and it’s a professional career. I vehemently disagree with war, and think the diplomatic corps should be fully supported for peaceful resolutions.

That all said, man I feel sorry for the US top brass listening to Pete Hesgeth today.

Thinking about #AI , what happens if it’s a bust? I mean, practically. What if its commercial application is not realised, and investors bail? All that water, all that energy, poured into a bubble that was nothing more than a glorified program?

I still understand it for research, but commercially?

I’m sad that he was killed. I’m seeing people already try to make him someone he wasn’t. You can’t slap saintly paint on a sinner and call it even. He hurt a lot of people with his words. He had a right to say them, but he chose his words. It shouldn’t mean his death for it.

The #taylorswift engagement announcement is bringing with it so many puns on the situation and y’know what? Fair.

It’s a Love Story if there was ever was one.

I have a question for #musichistory . Almost all English language singers up until say early 2000’s really used their voice to sing. It was a technical achievement. Now songs kind of sound more spoken word than singing (does that make sense?). What caused that change?

Genuine question: should there be an option to turn AI off from products?

Just from an educational standpoint, AI is persuading students to let Ai provide answers, and that can’t be good for the development of critical thinking. Why think when AI does the work?
August 20, 2025 at 1:55 AM
Something we don’t talk about in #AI is the inclusion to products students normally use to learn.

Students have AI doing a lot of the heavy lifting whereas before, they had to work to learn. AI is devaluing learning in the name of productivity.

If companies want to help, turn it off for students.

Decided to listen to the Savage Garden albums again. Every song feels relevant to the human experience, 26 years later. I feel that I understand more now than I did when I heard it as a teen, in my 20’s and 30’s. #music #millenial

It’s wild to me that reading and writing are these huge, amazing political wins for most of humanity, and we spend most of our time reading and writing things of little importance beyond business goals or jobs. Like, all that talent and it’s just texts that won’t be important after it’s read.

Hey #Marvel has Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan)ever met Frank Castle (The Punisher)? Considering her strong moral core, that would be a meeting for the ages.

Just kicking a can around. @stjepansejic.bsky.social considering the Kickstarter success, could that same strategy be used to properly conclude the Switch comics? It was such a fun read, and it would’ve been nice to see her grow into her full potential guided by the others.

I’m sure it’s been written or said before, but #Superman movie by @jamesgunn.bsky.social felt like reading a fun comic book again. It makes you remember that heroes are meant to be flawed, but inherently good people trying. Not always winning, but pushing everyone to a better tomorrow.

Thinking about this scene from shadows of the #tombraider . I interpreted this as Lara willingly sacrificing herself, and the high priestess doing so respectfully. I see it as her actual death and everything after is her afterlife. Is that right, or am I missing something?
