there's lots of distractions, I know, but please do not look away from this. this is the ballgame right now. if this is allowed to stand, there's no turning back. it needs to be opposed with every fiber. speak up. tell friends and colleagues who may be unaware.
NEW—After a day of uncertainty on where agents took Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk, she appears to be in a Louisiana facility.

1400+ miles from Somerville, Massachusetts, where she was taken.

A judge ordered to not take her out of state without 48 hour notice. She was detained last night.

International students are being hunted on their campuses. For raising their voices for justice. This is pure evil.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

It's going to be a long four years, especially if we make ourselves insane misreading budget documents.

This is a story where multiple things are true at the same time and it's a warning about how we consume information going forward

USAID's inspector general—apparently from a remote location—reports that $489 million of U.S. food aid (Food For Peace) is now stuck in ports, ships, and warehouses all over the world and is at risk of rotting and/or falling into the wrong hands.

Public health fiasco.

I know this is off message at a time when Elon is trying to shred the public sector but the fact that <1% of NPR’s budget is federal subsidies is a good argument for NPR to stop accepting federal subsidies!
Around 35% of SpaceX’s revenue comes directly from the federal govt.

Less than 1% of NPR’s budget comes from the federal govt.

A lot of people want to blame Schumer, and I'm not here to defend. He could whip more votes. But Schumer largely reflects what his caucus wants. If you want stronger Dem leadership, one good thing you can do is get your own backbencher Dem on the right side of history.
UPDATE: 8 Dems voted today to confirm yet another Trump nominee during Musk's coup: Bennett (CO), Gallego (AZ), Hassan (NH), Heinrich (NM), Hickenlooper (CO), King (ME), Lujan (NM), Shaheen (NH). If you're a constituent, don't just call - write an op-ed, protest their office, make clear you care.
The Senate takes 3 votes this afternoon:
1) Go into executive session to consider Russell Vought to be OMB Director
2) Cloture vote for Pam Bondi for Attorney General
3) Confirmation of Christopher Wright for Energy Sec

These should be 3 easy NO votes for Dems. Watch yours and provide that input.
