Hands off Our Handles was a campaign started to advocate against people grabbing or touching wheelchairs without their consent.

We should not have to feel fear just for existing in public. Read Melissa's blog and find out more about the campaign 👇

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social why is ableist language permitted BTL in the @theguardian.com? "Moron" is an offensive and ableist term of abuse regardless of who it is aimed at. Yet it is allowed regardless of how many times it gets reported! www.ucu.org.uk/media/11589/...

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social Why are the IFS and Resolution Foundation seen as independent when both operate through the lens of orthodox anti-social (neo/classical liberal) economics? Sure they are not aligned with party's, they cling to household budget fallacy, oppose pro-social economics.

@rjpartington.bsky.social in your article on the reverse right to buy in Brighton, you use the terms social and affordable housing interchangeably when they are not the same, the latter defined in law as 80% market rent, the former (council or PRP owned) around 50%, politicians do this to obfuscate!

More disabled people killed off by UK government policy as happened under Austerity and Covid will be the result of this, and for what to keep the corpse of neoliberalism alive for a little while longer. Shame on you.

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social today its reported that the UC claiments have hot a record high, nowhere does the @theguardian.com mention the crucial fact that the increase is largley due to the DWP migrating legacy benefit claiments to UC. Pretty basic stuff!
August 12, 2025 at 10:52 AM
@theguardian.com in your reporting of the 'record' high numbers of UC claiments dont you think you should point out that the DWP is fast tracking legacy benefit claiments onto UC, hence the numbers on UC going up, and point out in the reduction in legacy benefit numbers.

@guardianheather.bsky.social when you were writing your puff peace for Darren Jones MP, did you get any sign that he feels any guilt about targeting disabled people for cuts over tax millionaire and billionaire oligarchs, or is he a sociopath like most of the political class?

This is why disabled people and trans people must be in solidarity with each other at all times - transphobia cannot exist without ableism. The idea that you have the right to another person's medical details and that your opinion on their care should carry any weight at all is ableist at its core.
This is the entire fulcrum of the anti-trans movement. Every random person believes they have the right to weigh in on "care" and what is psychologically and medically best for kids and even other adults, and for some reason governments have decided this is rational.
