Focusing on the big issues - they're all about environmental damage that humans are inflicting on this planet. Is there anything else that's more important? Plus a glimpse of reality.

Remove anyone who isn't a net asset? So, he'll be removing himself.

OMG, what does he mean by "save ourselves?" There is no saving any form of civilisation because civilisation is unsustainable. Is this more bargaining?

It's nothing to do with god that we can't stop behaving like a species.

No government has the slightest intention of reining in emissions unless it doesn't hamper economic growth. It will always hamper economic growth as everything depends on fossil fuels. Everything.

Yes, 4 days in a row of the hottest days for the dates.

Everyone wants an unsustainable way of life to continue. You can guarantee it will be full of hopium.

Petrostates are parties to the conference so there will never be agreement (much less actions) on phasing out fossil fuels. That can't be overcome.

I think they'll never end.

The same could be said of those seeking "the transition." Suppose it is possible and it happens. Then what? A continued degrading of the biosphere? The main causes of such damage, so far, don't include climate change (though it's getting there). If there is no transition away from modernity ... !

I'm amazed that anyone who studies this stuff retains any optimism. Yes, a few young people are vocal but they will still want a modern world when they get older.

This article links to a paper as though it supports the notion that saturated fat causes heart disease. It does not. There is no evidence that the guidelines on saturated fats are anything more than bias by a handful of forceful "researchers." Doesn't mean we should eat more sat fats but they're OK.

What if there were no data centers?

Just do it, if it makes you happy and doesn't inconvenience others. There's nothing we, as individuals, can do about the planet.

There is no such thing as "clean energy" which is partly the cause of rising emissions.

Let's hope you're never elected president, then. It may be a waste of money, but to demolish it for some kind of revenge is also a complete waste.

That's the trouble with referendums, they only take a snapshot of opinion on a particular day. And only an opinion snapshot of those who voted. Fancy making such a big change on the basis of a single snapshot of opinion of a portion of citizens that wasn't even binding and with a slim majority.

It's a few years old but this suggests the the UK has only cut by about half of what it claims, when consumption based accounting is used.
