Do NOT engage in harassment back 2) Request to speak to a supervisor 3) If they refuse or hung up on you, call back and *immediately* escalate to a supervisor 4) Put in a complaint of the behavior (script below) 5) Afterwards *or* if they refuse to take your complaint, submit a BBB complaint (script below) Call Center Abuse Complaint: Hello, I'm calling to submit an official complaint about abuse I received from a call center representative today. I called at (time) and spoke with (name, if you know it). Their behavior was beyond inappropriate. The representative said (provide details). Once finished submitting that complaint, tell them you would still like to file the initial complaint you called about. BBB script: I'm filing a complaint in regards to their conduct when I called in to inquire about the situation between them and several gaming platforms. Upon mentioning the nature of my call the representative on the phone was exceptionally rude to me. They (insert details here). This sort of behavior is unprofessional and unacceptable. This should not be how they treat their customers. BBB script pt 2 (what you're looking for them to do in response): I would like a formal apology, my initial complaint to be processed, and the company to re-train their call center staff to prevent such occurrences in the future.

VISA in particular is becoming extremely aggressive with ending calls early. If you can't keep VISA talking long enough, definitely call them more than one time in a single day to maximize wasted time

WHY? On July 2025, Steam, a popular storefront to purchase games on PC, and itch.io, a storefront that sells games, comics, tools, resources and much more, have recently delisted several NSFW games, after the group Collective Shout published an open letter to payment processors such as Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, and more. As a result of this letter, payment processors have strongarmed Valve and itch.io into enforcing restrictive new TOS policies on what kind of content their platforms can host and sell. Visa, Mastercard, Stripe and Paypal have been censoring free speech and legal business on the internet for TOO LONG. Their most recent targets are Steam and Itch.io, but they have also been pressuring websites like Pixiv, Patreon, Fansly, Onlyfans and MORE for years, applying draconian standards for what kind of adult/pornographic content platiorms and their users can host and sell. If we as consumers and creators want to regain ground on this issue, we have to make our voice heard. HOW? BOMBARD THEM WITH PHONE CALLS Collective Shout, the organization that lobbied to have Steam and Itch.io change their TOS, did so with only around 1000 phone calls. Visa and MC have backed down from pressuring Onlyians to remove adult content entirely due to public backlash. Clogging their phone lines for an extended perlou, over a mont at the absolute least, will almost gudrantee that these compantes will at least have to pay attention to the backlash. this list is not exhaustive. but some contact points for the 4 targets are: 1. i for one have left several voicemails for stripe, because i don't use it as an individual merchant. but i don't feel as confident calling paypal from the phone number associated with my account. if you're not a seller, you can make a big impact for those of us who are!

If you can't even say the word rape without censoring it to accommodate your own revulsion you are not equipped enough to speak on fictional OR physical rape. Advocacy requires enough emotional detachment to speak from a place of reason and emotional control, even if it violates your sensibilities.

Collective Shout admits on Facebook that they pressured payment processors into destroying the livelihoods of game makers because their games made the group feel icky
STEAM CAMPAIGN TIMELINE In response to false claims and misinformation about our campaign, we're setting the record straight. Some have asked why we involved payment processors, and others have claimed we are responsible for Itch.io removing all NSFW content. We raised our objection to r*pe and incest games on Steam for months, and they ignored us for months. We approached payment processors because Steam did not respond to us. We called on Itch.io to remove r*pe and incest games that we argued normalised violence and abuse of women. Itch.io made the decision to remove all NSFW content. Our objections were to content that involved s*xualised violence and torture of women.

“Bad” art is subjective, what’s bad to one is fine to another. What’s deeply triggering to one is deeply helpful to another. Blanket bans like this will hurt anyone trying to operate outside of the status quo.

Tumblr reply: There are many difficult things that were replaced with technology, and it wasn't a bad thing. Washing machine replaces washing clothes by hand. Nothing wrong with that. Spinning wheel replaces drop spindle. Nothing wrong with that. Generative AI replaces thinking. The ability to think for yourself will always be important. People that want to control and oppress you want to limit your ability to think for yourself as much as possible, but continuing to practice it allows you to resist them.
