It took nearly four hours and fiddling a few things around with a recovery USB stick before it finally got rolling again. I was stating to get a bit worried!

Ever since I got this PC it has had severe separation anxiety. Basically, every time it's left unused for a few days it struggles to boot the next time I try to do so. This time it was unused for five weeks due to a vacation and the situation is so bad I'm getting an old-school BIOS error message.

Found a new LCD panel that fit my old laptop from a local auction site for 16€ (incl. shipping), while exact replacements would've been around 50€ on eBay. The next step is getting rid of Win10 (which is too heavy for this) and dipping my toes into Linux for the first time ever.

The cables were missing but the PS2 AV cable works just fine and the power cable is just standard figure-8, so it didn't take long to find replacements from my stash. Also while looking for the power cable I found an old pocket camera and two unlabeled VHS tapes... wonder what's on them.

Well ain't this thing a survivor. I had it in a damp cabin for years but it still booted up on first power on. Ignore the picture jitter as that was just the camera struggling to sync up - IRL everything looked fine. I guess I'll just have to replace the spindle so it won't scratch discs.

Put up a new shelf in my retro museum as I was running out of space. The PS1 there is going to be my next repair project, it needs at least a new spindle and maybe some other TLC as well.

Anxiety has been pretty bad lately and I can't spend much time outside my place without becoming a nervous wreck. I did manage to pick up a new bike chain and this Lego set today, though. Maybe tinkering with stuff helps with calming down my nerves.

And there's another anniversary. 20 years on Steam... back when I joined it was still mostly a multiplayer client for Valve games, and I specifically signed up to play CS 1.6 with other people from school. 20 years later... well everyone knows what it has become.

Christmas came early this year! Cousin brought back all the NES games my family gave her 20+ years ago as well as a "non-functioning" console. Turns out all that was required was a bit of cleaning and everything worked just as fine as they did so many moons ago.
