Happy birthday! Hope you've had a fine day. Returning the favor of your excellent '69 music posts with a fave tune from a fave lp of mine from that year ("Dusty In Memphis"). Surprisingly to me, this gem was not an #AT40 hit ...

Yeah, that's about the way I'd always heard it as well. I kept thinking, "Oh wait, that can't be right." Thanks to posted song lyrics online I finally got the correct word. Funny thing, now I can't hear it as anything but "moving in." #AT40

Have a great holiday! Yes, I'm a big fan of The Time as well, and almost anything Prince-related. I was looking at my FB feed this morning, and Jill Jones (who worked with Prince circa the late-1980s) posted the news. I see the mainstream media is reporting it, too. #AT40

Well, at least the Marie hit didn't make me cringe. Although the connection to Anita Bryant does. That being said, I have no urge to heard it again (although it will likely resurface the next time a late-1973 #AT40 is rerun).

Well I'm not gonna let one bad apple spoil the whole bunch. Or even two bad apples (not that I peeked ahead at the entire chart beforehand) #AT40

I've always thought Bob Dylan was a great singer, but some can't get past the actual sound of his raspy, nasal voice. "He can't sing" is the incorrect response. Saying "It's not for me" and moving along to some other singer they prefer is more proper. I have 60+ Dylan lps, that's my answer! #AT40

Actually I read the covers of NE quite often while in various grocery check-out lines #AT40

It's like he'd been listening to her for all of Karen's life. Oh wait ... 🤓

Elvis' version works for me. Then there's that 'other' one. Works great for me, too! I didn't hear Dusty's version until years after Presley's. Immediately understood why it was so loved by many! Here in 2025 I own both on CD. #AT40

I lost track of the station before it moved to FM, but that's interesting to hear that it got its second wind that way. KACY was one of the first to pick up #AT40 when it began, so I probably heard most of the earliest programs.

I do recall album cuts getting some play on the AM radio stations that I listened to back then. Amazingly, my go-to station around the time of this #AT40 (KACY-AM, Oxnard CA iirc) once played the ENTIRE Concert For Bangladesh lp, including even the Ravi Shankar segment!
