What perfect album came out the year you turned 16?

(as with every year I have multiple choices to choose from. Herbie Hancock's 'Head Hunters' is a perfectly perfect album re: '73)

As this 1975-10-18 #AT40 comes to an end, I recall that even though pop radio was not the influence on me that it once was, there are a LOT of '75 lps that 50 years later stay on my "Albums that I remember the year by" list. I'm sure I missed a few personal faves (later add-ons allowed). As of now:

I did have "Live At Leeds" back in 1970 (but no longer do; I haven't had a vinyl turntable for several decades either). Besides all the extras, I admired that the cover was inspired by some of the 1st generation of bootlegs, including this Rolling Stones lp (several local stores stocked boots).

When I state a preference for early-70s #AT40, it's because my list of personal fave albums is much more fully represented in the early-70s than later. As the decade continued, my tastes & pop radio got less in-sync. Even so, a few cuts from lp's on my list are on this week's program (1979/05/26).

Did a little research on my #AT40 original exposure because I think I started listening very early on via the appropriately-named KACY-AM (Oxnard CA). Maybe not the first one, but very soon thereafter. Found this blip from the 1970/10/10 issue of Billboard confirming KACY & other initial stations.

Parliament scores an all-time funk classic with 'Tear The Roof Off The Sucker (Give Up The Funk)' #AT40 Here's George Clinton behind the leader of the group he inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame, Sly Stone! (1993). Sly's brother Freddie is also seen behind him.

The group that Buckingham-Nicks merged into has a hit with 'Dreams' (#32). The long-awaited reissue of their 1973 duet album drops on September 19th. #AT40

Since Stevie Nicks' name came up as a co-singer on John Stewart's 'Gold,' did everyone notice Stevie and Lindsey Buckingham appear to once again be on tweeting terms with this recent back'n'forth. #AT40 Most likely it's a clue re: a possible reissue of their solo duet lp from their pre-FMac days.

Not much I can post for this 1971/06/26 #AT40 ... at least 35 of the 40 hits range from "no-skip" to "own it on CD here in 2025." While listening this morning I threw together a list of my personal fave '71 albums. Listed in random order, and given more time I'll probably be adding a few more.
