Flights to Seattle for the SGO conference are 500 but flights to London for a week during my “vacation” month are 499 right now…I have a google alert set and this is the first time they’re under $700. I shouldn’t but I want to :(

Had a patient in labor pretty far along so I went home to shower at 6pm and my hot water tank blew. Came back and they refused cervical checks.Hung out in the doctors lounge and thankfully fell asleep around 11 for 30mins before baby came, it’s 1am and I have to be back at 6 and I’m just now leaving

Found a stethoscope in the ortho supply bucket today and I jokingly said “why is this here, none of you remember how to use it lol”

I got to close today and my sutures awarded me a gold star ⭐️ the residents are now trying to get me to switch to ortho so I can be their resident. I won’t be, but I needed the validation I’m preforming well because my imposter syndrome has been quite high lately

Woke up with a nasty URI, slept till noon, drove to Ohio for my next rotation, go back to sleep, and then get your schedule this week from the resident saying see you at 5am. My aunt lives an hour away and I’m barely alive no please 😭😭😭

At my parents, and the winters made me afraid of house mice as a kid because the family room was a garage in the 50s so it’s not well insulated…clearly just need to bring your cat home to fix your fear bc I woke up to some intestines at my feet 🥲

Experiencing the osteopathic cannon event making my residency spreadsheet when I see the score requirements. Level minimum 600 (~80the percentile) and Step minimum 220 (~5th percentile). The frustration and anger I have rn…lol won’t be applying here

People from college often look down on me for “still” being in med school at 27 but I was able to have an informative and supportive conversation today with my pt that just got dx with cervical cancer and answer questions my preceptor wasn’t knowledgeable in because of my research career 🩷🩷

What’s everyone’s thoughts on that new show St. Dennis Medical? I thought the first episode was pretty close to IRL and now I’m on episode 3 and it’s not giving scrubs or medical the office but seems cringey?

Christmas gift from my bf got lost so he had me open the mystery box that got delivered today to see if it was that…he got me Irish love knot earrings and a necklace with my state stamped with a heart and his town in England stamped with a heart 😭😭😭

I’m so excited to rotate in Cleveland next month. Not excited for the speciality but to be with someone who loves me and in the cold and snow and get the “real” med student experience with residents for 4 weeks.

I got a pt who hates meds to take a statin AND a vitamin today after a lengthy lab conversation. Even my preceptor couldn’t do that her last visit 😌

Also saw a patient while my preceptor was in a meeting and when I presented and gave my A and P he went mmmm idk let’s see and then told the patient usually doesn’t agree with students fully but I was right on the money. He rewarded me with a punch biopsy 🥲

Reason 90374853 why family med is not for me: a patient told me their bgl of 325 was because of their insulin and vodka brought it back down…after asking to clarify I said that’s like saying water causes fire, insulin doesn’t make your glucose that high my dude lol “no no I have a PhD I know this”

Also worth it to mention my FM preceptor has made me incredibly uncomfortable 7 times and I’ve only been with him a week. Today featured a perverted joke with “dick and balls” in front a pt, and trying to set me up with a patient’s 40 yo son that the pt said lived in a dumpster

I’ve been bed rotting for two hours wondering why I’m so exhausted and if I should just sleep now and not do my to do list. I realized that every day on FM I’m working 12+ hours but basically doing nothing because I don’t have EMR access and my preceptor doesn’t trust students to do stuff for him
