We took the cap off our brick chimney and swifts use it every year, mid-spring to August. Some years it’s a quiet nesting family, some years a big noisy colony of bachelors. Birds that eat Texas skeeters are welcome at my house.

Swifts! I can remember the sky in the UK being full of swifts like this. Our national obsession with tidyness has caused a lack of nest sites and 😱 if we can hear things scratching under our tiles. If a nest is above a bench, here in SW France they move the bench. @hannahbournetaylor.bsky.social
