This is the iconic De La Warr staircase. Isn’t it fab? The De La Warr celebrated its 90th birthday yesterday!

The large sweeping circular staircase has a chrome art deco style light fixture that descends down the centre of it. It has regular chrome circles down it. At the bottom is the circular plaque which is set in the floor and commemorates the opening.

Recently I said we’d have some exciting news about Blues Unlimited & I am happy to announce that a blue plaque has now been installed in Sackville Rd, to mark the birthplace of the world’s first magazine devoted to blues music. On Wed Oct 29th at 2pm there will be a brief opening ceremony. #Bexhill

“De La Warr Pavilion Staircases” - from the beginning I was moving more out of my creative comfort zone. “De La Warr Pavilion, Piazza and Beach” were just as much inspired by the landscape around De La Warr as the building itself.

Spent Record Store Day on Saturday doing a couple of in-stores. First Music's Not Dead at the De La Warr in Bexhill. Nightjar vinyl and CD in stock at the shop.

Then on to Eastbourne to The Vinyl Frontier.

The poster shows a huge green hand over a running track. The index finger is pointing at done words written on the lanes “Southern Electric. Time tables of new services. Season and cheap tickets. Fares. London, Seaford, Eastbourne, Bexhill, St Leonards and Hastings. July 7th 1935 and until further notice. Poster shows a green train on a dark night with electricity bolts coming out of the top of the roof. The words say “Southern Electric still growing.” Underneath is a white label which says Southern Railway poster, June 1937.
