The best way to start your #morning is with some #yerbamate. This Playadito yerba is con palo, aka with sticks. It has lots of grassy, earthy flavors to it. Maybe not ideal for a maté beginner, but excellent for true matero.
A 1kg bag of Playadito yerba next to my kettle and cup with bombilla This yerba is con palo, or with sticks. Low-ish on dust, it has a strong earthy flavor. I like this one and Rosemonte a lot. If you're unaccustomed to yerba mate, con palo might be a little strong for you. Or not, I don't know you or your tastes. An empty cup! Time for more hot water. Pro tip, never ever ever use boiling water. Not only is that unsafe for you, but it also makes your mate bitter. Use water that's around 170°F/75°C for best results.

There were some dramatic #clouds yesterday just past noon. Don't worry, I was stopped at the traffic light when I took the photo.

I just absolutely love the #stormy #skies here in the #pnw during #autumn. And yes, that is as high as the sun gets in the sky (27°) this time of year here.

You can't tell from a still photo, but they were racing in from the west at well over 30mph/50kmh I absolutely love the sky this time of year.

Mac the Mopbot is back to work! Unfortunately due to a workplace incident, he needed new wheel treads. During his time off, his battery went t/u, so I replaced that too.

I recently got my hands on some hatch #chillies, so I decided to stuff and bake them. They're stuffed with a seasoned rice/black bean mixture, and served with avocado salsa. #delicious, inexpensive, and #vegan. Winning!

Look at these beautiful hatch chillies. LOOK AT THEM Wash 'em, cut the tops and remove the seeds. Hatch chillies can be a little spicy, so make sure to wash your hands after touching the seeds. Unless you like to live on the edge... Black bean and jasmine rice mix, seasoned with salt, pepper, onion & garlic. I added a little cumin too. Why jasmine rice? Because I like it. Baked for about half an hour at 350°F/175°C and served with some avocado salsa. Very tasty, about a 3/10 on heat.

Easily 100+ crows in a field, on the power lines and on the roofs of the buildings across the street. It seems the DOT thatched the grass, and the crows saw a smorgasbord just waiting for them.

This orb weaver on the porch is a big 'un, probably about 2 inches (5cm) across the legs. It's definitely eatin good in this hood A different orb weaver. This one wanted to block the door, so I had to move it out into the garden. Remember, spiders are our friends and should be left to do their important work.

I finally sat down and watched the Hobbit. I love #LOTR, but I'm not much of a #movie watcher.
For a #film adaptation, Jackson did a pretty good job. I enjoyed it, even if it was kinda gory for my own taste.

One of my pet #plants a Star of Crimea #olive #tree. Betcha didn't know you can grow some types of olive in the Zone 8B Seattle area. I don't have a cross-pollinating variety to go with it yet, so no fruit for me at this time.
