I just assume Denver/Boston for a good chunk of these starter-level FAs (see also: Hailie Mace) until proven otherwise.

Regardless, when GM Dr. Ceri Bowley said at a STM event that Courage fans needed to be prepared for changes, he wasn't kidding.

As a fan, I just hope this is reallocation of $ for other areas on the team, not just cost-cutting. And I wish KK the best (in I expect Boston or Denver, but we'll see).

On another level:

Kurtz was good friends with Malia Berkely (→ Houston) and credited Casey Murphy (→ Boston) with helping her through some struggles during her time in NC. It's possible this may have been in the works for a while (hinted at by @lionspitch.bsky.social)

In some respects, this isn't a complete shock.

From a practical level, the Courage with Kurtz would have had 5 center backs on the roster with more than 500 minutes played / 4+ starts, which is more than any one team really needs.

Bringing back the 4-6-0 to break lineup graphics everywhere.

I am interested to see what a new staff thinks is the best way to handle this since it also is going to drive recruitment. But they actually, y'know, need to hire one.

Spitballing ASA's graph, it looks 60-40, maybe 65-35 forward.

Then again, she had a higher percentage of defensive half touches than Sanchez even while doing that.
