🌈📚My Discworld re-read has reached The Last Continent, which - as much as I love Pratchett - I rate very low because it's mostly just a bunch of unfunny jokes about Australia thrown together. The non-Rincewind B-plot is OK, but not enough to make it even a decently entertaining book. #booksky

Rewatching the first Naked Gun movie for the first time in at least 25 years. I loved these movies as a kid but don't have high hopes since both the world and my sense of humor have changed a lot since... #moviesky

Watching Kubrick's Lolita for the first time in about 25 years and I'd completely blocked the memory of Peter Sellers in this. I like him as a comedian but sheesh he's tiresome here.

I've been trying to see Mickey 17 for ages because I want to support original scifi (even though I didn't live Parasite as much as most people) but was very disappointed that it was basically just a combination of Moon and Avenue 5 and not in a good way.

I've been rewatching Frasier & thing I noticed on this rewatch is that there's so many trans-jokes, especially in early seasons, but they're mostly weirdly non-hateful? (though some are very hateful). So many episodes just randomly mention being trans (though often confused with crossdressing/drag)

It's been a while since a movie has disappointed me as much as Terrifier. I get why people like Art the Clown, but the writing and acting was atrocious and the fx work ridiculously bad. I've seen better gore on ER.

Things are stressful. Breathe. Drink some water. Take your meds. Eat something. Try to rest. Put your phone down. Watch a movie.

Stepping into 2025 I find myself once again thinking about how eerily prescient @straczynski.bsky.social was when writing Babylon 5. youtu.be/BpQ0H-26DW0?...

Does anyone else have weird quotes that have become a permanent part of your brain? Mine is that every single time I'm looking for something I hear in my head the words "Where are my children?" in the voice of an alien ghost from the Babylon 5 tv-movie The River of Souls

I can't be the only one who hates the "funny" voices the host of You Must Remember This podcast makes whenever she reads quotes? I really like the podcast otherwise but the voices often make it hard to listen because they're annoying at best and offensive and misleading at worst.

I have reached an age where I should not google celebrities' ages anymore, because I just found out that Fred Hechinger is younger than my microwave oven.

Is it just me or are people these days treating hobbies as something you should profit from? I just saw someone post how they need to find a new hobby because the price of acrylic paint has cut into their profit margin. But to me hobby is something you do for fun and self-expression.

Just had my first DNF in my 52 new movies in 2024 challenge: Smile was clearly trying to be It Follows, but the acting and dialogue was so bad that I just couldn’t force myself to finish it.

4/52 Train to Busan. A solid if predictable zombie spectacle. I get why people like it, but when it comes to Korean zombie movies, I prefer #Alive.

3/52 Nope. Not as creepy as Us and the satire didn’t have the edge of Get Out, but I have to give it to Jordan Peele for making genuinely original and interesting horror & scifi.
