Remembering this story from 8 years ago, about the differing values of rural & urban people. One reason I remember it is that every single factual assertion made by a rural person in the piece is false.
New poll of rural Americans shows deep cultural divide with urban residents
Big-city and small-town Americans have vastly different views on issues like immigration and religion, helping to explain President Trump’s election

Dude's wanted a military parade for himself for years and he finally makes it happen and turnout is worse than at a medium sized city's farmers market on a rainy day while like 2% of the entire country went out to protest his bullshit

I don't know if this needs to be said or not but "elected official assassinated in their home" is simply not a thing that happens in this country. 1825, 1889, 1893, 1973. Those are all the ones I can find, ever, before today.

The far right thinks it’s above the law. They are violating the constitution, arresting and killing their political enemies, and exercising the power of the state as a personal tool of revenge.

Make your voice heard today, but please stay safe and aware of your surroundings.

Alito and Thomas are corrupt bad faith actors with no judicial credibility
In SCOTUS's 7-2 ruling stopping more kidnapped people from being sent to El Salvador, the majority justices didn't wait for Alito to write his dissent.

That's odd and suggests they didn't trust him to act in good faith, that his plan was to hold up the order until the prisoners were already gone.

The sad thing about these cowards who refuse to talk about the kidnappings is that they will never have to experience even a fraction of the pain and death the victims will
It’s been leading every paper and news channel for a week and is spiraling into a crisis that is both destroying public support of Trump’s immigration policy and also making clear to the public how utterly lawless and authoritarian Trump is.

Centrist Dems: “talk about kitchen table issues plz”
One House Dem called deportations a “soup du jour,” telling @axios.com Trump is “setting a trap for the Democrats, and like usual we're falling for it."

All of the leftists who called ICE a fascist organization were 100% correct. Every ICE agent either enjoys inflicting pain on vulnerable people or are indifferent to it. Only a matter of time before the Gestapo starts rounding up American citizens
We all make choices. I haven't been able to stop thinking about this officer and the choices she's made about her job. www.thebulwark.com/p/inside-the...

The United States government under Trump by all accounts is shipping these people into indefinite involuntary servitude in El Salvador without even the pretense of any judicial process, much less duly convicting them of a crime. It’s an enslaving operation.

Americans do not understand the incredible crisis consuming all components of their government at once. Thousands of jobs lost, projects on hold, desks unmanned, services stopped, basic safety neglected. Total chaos. Stuff is going to start breaking down, maybe catastrophically.

I'm happy that people are thinking about resistance, but the outlook for our country is bleak. I don't want to live my entire adult life like this, man.

Young, crypto owning men didn't vote Republican because Gary Gensler was at the SEC. They voted Republican because every social media space they're in and every hobby they have is conservative-coded. Fitness, finance, sports, video games, almost all are dominated by centre right culture
Gary Gensler is leaving the SEC about 2 years too late. I said he could change the outcome of the election and I believe his stance on crypto was the reason so many young, crypto owning men voted Republican.
