Because it’s come up now & then I put a video on Youtube (full-length: youtu.be/rMW97Wl-Uh8 ) about how there’s really no evidence of a “commandment” that historical Norse pagan men needed to grow a beard, & how little we know at all about that religion’s *practice* (as opposed to its *stories*)

I keep thinking about him this week. Kaleb was so generous with his time and feedback to other writers too. “Here’s me being supportive: rejection has literally no bearing on quality.” It matters to hear that from someone whose work was nothing but quality (and who never got the career he deserved).

Well today was going to be the release of the Second Edition of my translation of the original source of the Norse myths but Amazon inexplicably pushed back the ship date a few months. Some people got it from the publisher directly, but now their website is down. I’m not sure what’s going on.

My translation of the myths of the Norse gods & heroes, originally released ten years ago, is debuting next week in a beautiful new Second Edition with 100 more pages of related translated poems from Old Norse, many significant revisions, & more art and helpful tools (such as a map & family trees).

Academics looking to pivot to youtube (I did): Youtube per se will not pay the rent. These are analytics for a video with typical performance for me; almost all views are in the 1st day & even uploading every day you couldn't live off $30/day. Fans have to be able to help you elsewhere (patreon etc)
