Building up the PlayStation 4 collection more this week, with two new additions. Quantic Dream's games The Heavy Rain & Beyond: Two Souls Collection (two PS3 games remastered for PS4) and Detroit: Become Human.

I have played Beyond before, as it was part of the PS3 console bundle back in 2013.

Finished the Yakuza 4 Remaster. Also been 10 years since I last played the PS3 version. Aged better than the previous game and the new cast were great. Story is a bit convoluted but still interesting how intertwined it is between each of the main leads. 25 hours playtime with most substories done.

I watched The Running Man (2025) and it's an interesting one. More accurate to the source material than the 80s version, though it has some rough bits throughout. The first two thirds were great and the presenter dude was awesome. Glen Powell did a good job and the satire/propaganda stuff works.

Watched the 1987 film The Running Man, was cheesy fun. Loved the dystopian aesthetic and story for the most part was good. Pacing was a bit all over the place and the final act was rather out of nowhere but overall a solid 80s action flick with some fun lines from Arnold.

I love how Toro is just chilling #StateofPlay

And then I visited the CeX store to find Mass Effect Legendary Edition in stock. I think this game has been going up in value from what I saw so I got a good deal on this. Played all three via the 360 version years back so looking forward to revisiting the franchise.

New 4K Ultra HD pickups from HMV York! We have Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven, Darren Aronofsky's Requiem for a Dream, James Gunn's Superman, and David Fincher's Zodiac.

Three of these were part of the 3 for £50 deal, while Superman just got released last week.

Watched Predator: Badlands at the IMAX earlier today. Great film, one of my favourites of the year! Different in a way to the other Predator films prior, but the main character was surprisingly good and both the soundtrack and cinematography were amazing. Elle Fanning's character was fun too.
November 10, 2025 at 11:12 PM
In preparation for Predator: Badlands I finally got around to watching both Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers. Great films!

Prey at times you forget is a Predator film but the second half goes nuts with the action. Killer of Killers had great animation and cool approaches to the worldbuilding.

And last Saturday, alongside the Maiku Hama Trilogy from Terracotta, I also received Arrow Video's releases for The Sadness on 4K Ultra HD and the Three/Three Extremes collection on Blu-ray.

I watched Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein at the Picturehouse Cinema earlier today. I think this is the first Frankenstein film/story I've seen and I was surprised by its direction. Really great story especially with the creature and the setting has great practical effects too.

Even though I was working today I was able to watch Chainsaw Man Reze Arc this evening in IMAX. Absolutely loved this film. Really enjoyed the story and the action scenes. Animation was stunning and Kensuke Ushio's score was so good. Ending was solid too. Art style change didn't bother me either.
October 25, 2025 at 9:23 PM
Watched Anthony Hickox's Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth. Different direction with the Pinhead character but I get what they were going for. More fantasy elements like with the previous film but overall an entertaining experience. I watched the theatrical version on the 4K disc.
October 24, 2025 at 11:08 PM
Watched Clive Barker's Hellraiser and Tony Randel's Hellbound: Hellraiser II back to back today. I absolutely loved the hellscape the two films introduced and the effort put into the practical & make-up effects, brings more life to the horror. Plot was decent too.

Finally finished the Yakuza 3 Remaster. It's been 10 years since I played the PS3 version and the game has aged in places but it's a good time. Story is decent and the side content is entertaining. 27 hours playtime and 80 substories completed. Curious to see how the Kiwami version will hold up.
October 22, 2025 at 10:32 PM
Also arriving today is Eureka Entertainment's limited edition 4K Ultra HD release for Pascal Laugier's 2008 film Martyrs.

I've heard about this film a couple years back and to see it be released in 4K was an opportunity to pick it up. A French extreme film that is not everyone's cup of tea.

Another game that arrived today as it went on offer out of nowhere was Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness from Spike Chunsoft & Numskull Games for the PlayStation 4.

For context, the cover on SaGa Frontier 2 Remastered is actually reversible so I changed it.
