It reminds me of my first labor organizing job when my trainer said "The thing that's different about labor is that you just have to organize who's here" and to some extent, the older I get, the more I realize that's true everywhere.

Yes, a day off work absolutely helps! Yet another argument for a 4-day workweek (for starters) and for UBI — the amount of material / emotional / cognitive resources needed for active and sustainable work of care is simply unavailable to so many folx, unfortunately.

Saw a different post of yours in my feed, wasn’t following then. Went to check out your page to see if you are (most likely) the same folx I’ve been following on The Bad Place, saw •this• post, and will hit that Follow button in a sec.

Sadly, the “child-free propaganda” law has been adopted today in its 3rd reading. Disappointed But Not Surprised™️ It really does cover things like having a private conversation about postpartum depression or discussing contraception / abortion “in a positive or neutral manner”.

I understand that this is a wicked problem, at a macro level, but isn’t it solvable at local micro levels? We have tools of critical pedagogy, we have inspirational insights about what futures are possible from folks like the late David Graeber, we have a whole scientific field of neuropolitics.

Thousands of folks with brooms coming to help their neighbors, I have never seen such a response to a climate catastrophe before, but somehow it looked so perfectly ✨normal✨? As in, I imagine we’d see so much of this compassion all around us if not for atomization and learned helplessness.
