The scariest message I've seen all day.
“Nature finds a way”…
"We have an administration that doesn't believe in science," @vinguptamd.bsky.social tells @katiephang.bsky.social in the wake of RFK Jr. pausing the development of a new Covid vaccine. "It's like Jurassic Park, 'nature finds a way.' ...It feels like a ticking time bomb."

DOGE recommends cuts to the FAA.

Hundreds of workers get fired, including those tasked with producing air traffic navigation maps.

Now Starlink is reportedly in line to take over a $2 billion contract to upgrade the nation's air traffic control systems.

See how this works?

Unnecessary deaths in exchange for lower cost of eggs...
NEW:

“Kennedy paused a multimillion dollar project to create a new Covid-19 vaccine in pill form on Tuesday, and the Food and Drug Administration canceled an advisory committee meeting on updating next season’s flu vaccine.”

The first measles death in the US in a decade -- the tragic, preventable death of a child whose parents chose not to protect them with vaccination -- should spark an immediate nation-wide campaign to ensure all children are protected against preventable diseases. Anything less is unconscionable.

Just a reminder:

Being an undocumented migrant in the US is a Civil Offense...

I really don't want to dignify the rest of Leavitt's response, suffice it to say voting for someone for the cruelty they wrought is truly stupid.
Reporter: Migrants who were in Guantanamo Bay say they were shackled and placed in cages and say they were not treated as human beings. Any response to those conditions?

Leavitt: It’s a promise the President campaigned on

This really put words to how I've been feeling. It's so hard to explain complex feelings sometimes, especially during these times, but by doing so, maybe we can get others to understand, or at least find others that feel the same way, and not feel so alone in this fight.
Believe me, I understand that my activism is a problem for you. Please know that your inactivism is similarly problematic for me.

It's part of the reason I am as angry as I am.

I saw Star Wars as a 7yo, 31 years ago. It really instilled in me two big things:

1. No matter how small, or alone you may feel in this ever expanding universe, there are always good people, doing good things for good reasons.

2. Always Stand Against Tyranny

Find Them, Stand Together.

Nothing has hit me as hard as this passage from 'How to Keep House While Drowning' by KC Davis, LPC in a while.

I just started reading and am feeling very seen

It's wild to think how often completing tasks is conflated with a moralistic sense of self.

KC, did you grow up Catholic as well?

I wholeheartedly agree! Reach out to friends, even just to say hi and I miss you!

Life can be hard and get in the way of remembering we are not alone and reaching out to someone is a good reminder for both the receiver and the caller.

Thanks for reminding me, I have some calls to make!
Hey. You should text/call/voice-note some friends just because. Don't just DM silly videos. Check in with them. We all need some genuine connection right now!

Divesting from Amazon is hard, but if you use Good Reads, may I suggest @thestorygraph.com

I've really enjoyed it, the ability to keep track of books read, especially rented from the library, and the bookclubs feature are great!
