I can't decide if federalism is Good, Actually. Makes sense as a way to govern a territory that's large and has lots of diverse interests. It offers a useful hedge against authoritarianism, like this here, but it also means that those hedging have to live alongside and cogovern with apartheid states

I just left the Everglades Immigrant Interment Camp. No, I’m not using their ridiculous name. It was a very tough to witness humans in those cages. Every Floridian should be ashamed that our taxpayer money is being used for this.
