This is such an obvious bill to pass that it's supported by Jim Jordan, @wyden.senate.gov, and everyone in between. It's absolutely bonkers that Schumer won't let it come to a vote, and every single person in NY who works as a journalist or with journalists should be lighting up his switchboard.

NEW: Legislation that would bar the United States government from spying on journalists—except under rare, specific circumstances—is currently stalled in Congress.

Now, with only weeks left to legislate, press advocates are urging Senate Democrats to pass the bill, known as the PRESS Act.
Senate Democrats Are Running Out of Time to Pass a Shield Law to Protect Journalism
The PRESS Act, which would protect journalists from government spying, enjoys broad bipartisan support and has passed the House—but it’s unclear whether the Senate will take it up.

this reminds me of those 12 people who were responsible for thousands of book ban requests and it's a good reminder there aren't actually that many malicious actors in the world, just lots of systems unprepared for exploitation

Here’s a post with single-sentence paragraph breaks.

It has a bunch of likes for some fucking reason.

It's not good that elon could spend 200M and get a president elected but it's pretty funny that in his overall rightwing project, "electing the US president" apparently costs 175x less than "letting people be racist on twitter"

Elon Musk’s super PAC spent around $200 million to help elect Donald Trump. Most of that money came from Musk himself.

Every few months I hear the very "build community!" And I would love to, but I just didn't know how.

Maia breaks things down and my autistic ass understands the assignment now.

I think a lot of people would benefit by really thinking about how difficult it is to implement and coordinate rightwing plans on a national level. There are 350+ million Americans and 50 states. Yes the GOP can do damage, lots of damage, but local organizations can absolutely fight them

project 2025 is terrifying but the GOP seems to be banking on the idea that Trump will allow them to follow through on it without changing his mind or doing something weird and impulsive, and i just don't think that's true.
