he uhhhh talking about a quid pro quo here... in a social media post
Trump rages that Henry Cuellar didn’t pay him back for a pardon by switching parties, blasting Cuellar for a “lack of LOYALTY.”

In other words, Trump admits he was trying to use his pardon power to buy Republicans a House seat.

@wordloaf.org Distilled water or tap water for sourdough?

@seamus.bsky.social Have you investigated or have thoughts on how to increase the sour flavor of sourdough bread? I know it's the Lactobacillus that make the acids responsible for the sour. I've also read that higher temps and hydration also affect this.

@ranchogordo.bsky.social I just read that dried beans need to be cooked for 10 minutes + on high to make them safe to eat. I've been cooking for many years and never heard this. Is it true?

@proptermalone.bsky.social I noticed that Cal Raleigh is wearing an ear piece when catching. Do you have any idea who or what is being communicated?

All of this kind of "loophole" crap is not aimed at judges or constitutional scholars. it's aimed at the Base. The Base doesn't have the knowledge to know if the loophole exists or not, but they believe Trumpists, if you get popular support for an idea, even a bad one, you can get it past the line.

@wordloaf.org I purchased some dried starter some 8 months ago or so, back when you were on substack, and am now finally waking it up. The inst. note a web page describing fridge storage, but you've moved to ghost and that page no longer exists. Guessing there is a new one at you ghost site?

@wordloaf.org I'm looking for information on how the Romans managed sourdough starter. Do you know of a good resource?

Thanks.

I now see it was from 2020. Was it a repost? Wondering why it showed up in my current feed.

One of the marvelous bits of info in the Giamatti John Adams series was it took months for him to sail to Europe and then several more to secure financing and support while the war raged on back in America. Such a different time scale compared with today.

I would add that due to the workings of modern life becoming ever more complicated, requiring deep knowledge to fully understand, has allowed bad actors to exploit fear and ignorance at faster/wider rates due to social media, making it difficult to stem the momentum of these bad actors.
People want to consume media that flatters them instead of challenging them, and there’s now a way to do that at scale, and that incentivizes the production of it. This synergizes well with something @opinionhaver.bsky.social said that has really stuck with me:

@support.bsky.team Why do many of the people I follow only show up on the Quiet Posters feed? I mostly read the Follow feed and am realizing I miss tons of interesting stuff. All posts from people I follow should be in the Following feed, no? What am I missing?

Not sure what some people were expecting. The speeches were not as dynamic as I might have liked. Writing and delivering a stirring speech is not easy. But seeing several thousand people, waving signs and loudly expressing their anger was heartening. It's the first step of a longer journey.

@cantwell.senate.gov Please vote no on today's CR. Filibuster this CR bill. Giving more power to Trump and Musk is a deal breaker. Use the filibuster to leverage a better result.
