So, it's been a while since I checked in on my scripts and, well... Amazing news! Children of Iron, my fantasy TV pilot, was selected by Cambridge Script Festival as a Finalist! 🎉

I hate endings. I have always been that way, and writing the end of something so meaningful to me has been incredibly difficult. However, I'm proud to say that I'm finally into the penultimate chapter of my third novel, and finale of the Eden Trilogy, 'The Fate of Magic'.

So, here we go...

Me when I play video games or read books: This is making me want to write!

Me when I’m writing: Why can’t I just play video games and read books!

Just got back from seeing #FantasticFour and...

It's fantastic.

And I'm so glad it was. I love the 2005/7 films; they were the films that sparked my love for superheroes, and for that I'll always love them. I hope this does for someone else what those cheesy films before did for me.

I saw #Superman last night, and what a brilliant film it is. I don't think it's a perfect film. But, man, I loved it with all my heart. It *is* Superman—it gets him.

I don't really know what else to say. I just keep smiling when I think about it, and I think that says it all.

Following on from my last post, where I mentioned trying out some pixel art recently, here's another GIF I've put together! Love Blade Runner 2049 and I think I managed to do a decent job with this.

This is Ando. He's been a high-risk explosives detection dog for 6 years, and last week he celebrated his final day on the job. His coworkers threw him a surprise retirement party by showering him with dummies, a special reward that detection dogs are trained to love. 14/10 congratulations Ando

So, I've been messing around with pixel art recently, in my free time, and I thought I'd just share a bit. Here's a little animation I made of Alannah, the protagonist from my fantasy novels, casting a spell!

Well, it’s always disappointing to get back the results of a competition and see you didn’t make the cut. But hey ho, that’s how it goes. On a positive note, I can take solace in knowing that, while my script wasn’t the best of the bunch, it was in the top 240 submitted. That's cool 🤷‍♂️

Write every day for 1 hour. If you miss a writing day add 1 hour to the next. It’s incredible! Tomorrow I’m writing for 7 years.

Question for everyone: do you prefer reading with or without music in the background?

Personally, I love having some classical music or, when it fits, an appropriate film score quietly going as I read. Just wondering if others do this too!

I’m going to keep saying it until it happens:

My writing will be the reason my house gets paid off.

My writing will be the reason why I won’t have to work a 9-5 the rest of my life.

My writing will be the reason why I can finally know how it feels to live comfortable in this lifetime.

Unsolicited writing advice, #17171617:
Don't just write. Read books. Watch films. Look at paintings and sculpture. Play games. Go to plays. Listen to music. Think about how these things make you feel.
Making art is a two-way stream. To make art, you have to consume art.
