Absurd: "the AGs argued that the EU’s new sustainability laws would impose 'unlawful' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mandates on American companies"

Great analysis by @lukaszolejnik.bsky.social of the latest leaked European Commission draft proposal for the review of the GDPR
My analysis of the leaked #GDPR overhaul proposal. Some changes are great. Some risk decreasing privacy protections.
The changes are very far‑reaching. Tread carefully! Also, some of the proposed amendments may in fact be ... not so legit. techletters.substack.com/p/techletter...

After reading this article, I think it would be safe to say that if these proposals would get approved, then @gzf.bsky.social’s remark that the EU’s data protection would be weaker than that of those countries, who built their own regimes based on the GDPR is very on point.

Yes, I have read the leaked GDPR Omnibus. Yes, if unleashed as is, it will be an earthquake for EU data protection law (with 2 or 3 of the deep cuts). Which, ironically, would leave most countries that imported the GDPR with a stronger data protection regime than the GDPR.
