As someone in their 40s, I can report that this was an expression being used regularly in the US pre-internet. It's not that it's online slang, it's that the internet has exposed you to American speech patterns. (For which I can only apologize.)

I was discussing this with my kid, including the relief part, because when I was young I had a specific fear that I would never find men in their 50s attractive (which I very much now do.)

Then husband walked in and asked what's up, and my kid announced, "oh, Mom's relieved she's not a pedophile."

Genuinely knew a guy once who wanted to open a Reservoir-Dogs-themed hot dog cart. He even managed to secure a few emails back and forth with Tarantino's agent, before they figured out he was a nutter with no business experience.

It'll never be the same once one of them starts bringing a partner home with them for Christmas.
