I might be late to this one but great to see the Millennium Hotel getting a real revitalization plan!

Calling it “an exciting plan,” St. Louis Mayor Tishaura O. Jones is joining city leaders in heralding the selection of the Cordish Companies to redevelop the vacant Millenium Hotel at 200 S. 4th St. adjacent to the St. Louis Gateway Arch grounds.

According to Cordish, the nearly $670 million preliminary plan includes 1.3 million square feet of residential, office, commercial, cultural, and public spaces “to create a vibrant, multifunctional destination.”

The proposal includes upscale residential, Class A office space, public spaces, an amphitheater, a food hall, event space, a potential home for the Gateway Arch National Park’s archives, enhanced streetscapes, pedestrian-friendly spaces, landscaping, and art installations.

“Back in May of 2024, I asked St. Louis Development Corporation and Greater St. Louis Inc. to bring me a plan to address the Railway Exchange and the Millennium Hotel within 120 days. My experience in the #stlouis snow so far:

My street isn't cleared, and neither are either perpendicular streets on my block.

My little 2WD car struggled so much getting out of its spot, I decided to not try to go any farther.

Of the 3 bus stops I used, 0 had shelters, 0 were cleared. One […]

So Loughborough Schnucks has a anti-loitering sensor that is pointed at the bus stop and tells you to leave when you've been there too long? I am trying to leave, that's why I'm at the bus stop.

So I moved mastodon instances, and now if you want to see my content it will show up on this bridge: @nix.social.coop.ap.brid.gy

I don't intend to move again, the first move was due to an unforseen server issue.

The Free Store went so well today! Not only did normal volunteers show up, but some people in the neighborhood came and helped. Shout out to the people that stayed and just sorted clothes for like half the time.

These events always bring me such joy and hope. Already looking forward to the […]

A little random, but a convo I had earlier tonight made me want to bring this up.

Periodic reminder to make your electeds work for you. They're not just in office to vote on bills. They're there to solve problems for you, if it involves government.

I'm ok but: Fell off the ebike today. Wet outside and a car looked like it was about to roll a stop, so when I braked I slid and fell.

Driver insisted they were going to stop, but were fully past the crosswalk already.

Maybe they *were* going to stop. If you don't stop at the line, how do I know?

Anyone active on scuttlebutt or similar? I'm interested in trying out a more radically decentralized network but not sure where to start. It looks like scuttlebutt's biggest client (patchwork) is decommissioned?

today feels like a good day to boost the excellent work that @stlurbanists.bsky.social does, and that if you’re feeling rather hopeless (and happen to be in St. Louis) our local community is being made better in part by these lovely folks and that work continues today, and it will continue tomorrow.

Simply saying your event is family friendly doesn't make it so!
I love being involved in the community and I see a lot of things I can't go to. If your meeting:

-is scheduled after 8pm
-takes place at a bar
-doesn't offer childcare

Then i probably can't make it!
