Do you ever find yourself thinking, “Man, I wish I could read about beer, but I’ll die if I go that long without gay ennui”? Well, I’m the Minneapolis-based beer writer for you.

Am I the best beer writer? No. Am I better than the beer writers for the Strib? Yes. Am I gay? Also yes. Duh. See above.

Proposed New York Times Opinion Piece: “Trans Women Shouldn’t Be Allowed in Women’s Restrooms Because Their Male Bladders Are an Unfair Advantage in Pissing Contests.”
November 20, 2025 at 5:46 PM
The piece has been updated with EVEN. MORE. JOURNALISM. It turns out my email hates park board addresses, and a couple responses were in my spam (Cathy Abene, Meg Forney, and @olsenforparks.bsky.social).
I did a journalism for @racketmn.com in the name of democracy—crisp, malty, refreshing democracy. You can't get this sort of local flavor anywhere else.

My election-edition of Doin' Beers for @racketmn.com is sitting at 2,671 words*. I am not paid by the word. Why must I be like this? Why must I be so committed to democracy?

*A substantial chunk of this is quotes, but still.

Why didn’t anyone tell me about Hippo Pockets off 48th and Chicago? It’s amazing, and their waffle fries are ridiculously good.

Listen—I make pretty okay sushi.

I have favorite beers from Mayor Frey, Council Member Palmisano, three incoming Park Board Commisioners (Jason Garcia, Kedar Deshpande, and Daniel Engelhardt), and Steve Brandt. I have promises for a couple more, but I gotta say I'm a little bummed I don't have more yet!
I spent my evening advancing the cause of hard-hitting journalism by emailing everyone who won a municipal election in Minneapolis or St. Paul (25 people!) to ask them about their favorite Minnesota beer. The Strib can’t be trusted to do this. Only I can.

24 hours out, I’ve only gotten statements from 4 electeds. DEMOCRACY DIES IN SILENCE.

Every time I try to Rick Roll someone, I end up watching the video all the way through. "Never Gonna Give You Up" is a banger, even if the video has issues.

Does anyone want to know what various elected officials in Minneapolis and St Paul consider their favorite Minnesota beer? Asking for a friend.

Starting a petition to add whether someone has ever pooped themselves (after being potty trained) to their passport. It’s a historical fact, and therefore not discriminatory.

Establishment dems typing up their opinion pieces as we speak: “Zohran’s win is the first domino in a series of dominos that threatens to sink the democratic party platform: being overly-calculated and unlikable centrists.”

I sincerely hope Democrats pay attention to tonight’s results across the country. They won’t learn anything but still. Maybe. People are excited by change and original campaigns and bold ideas and candidates under the age of 50!

41.76% of Minneapolitans clearly do not read my column, and spend their free time getting drunk on Natty Ice in a suburban parking lot.
Minneapolis Mayoral candidates as mass-market lagers:

Omar Fateh: Schell’s Deer Brand
Dewayne Davis: Hamms
Jazz Hampton: Premium Grain Belt
Jacob Frey: Natty Ice

Because Frey didn't get more than 50% of the first round votes, no winner was declared yet and won't be until tomorrow at the earliest.

If you haven’t already, go vote today!

This applies everywhere, but especially to my neighbors in Minneapolis.

For mayor, I’m ranking @omarfatehmn.com @dewayneforminneapolis.com & @jazzformayor.bsky.social.

Ward 8 is @sorenwithward8.bsky.social of course.

I’ve decided I’m against GLP-1s—not because of moralistic reasons or unfounded anxiety about long-term health, but rather because they are devastating our average butt and cup sizes. If there was a god, GLP-1s would leave the badonkadonks alone
