not attending G20? I guess they are really just embracing the Chinese Century huh
It really is incredible how much control Elon Musk has over US policy right now. Also, Rubio is pathetic.

9 million people die every year from starvation in capitalism as we speak

that is 25k people each day.

Those numbers will not decrease with climate change
Nah. I enjoy not dying by starvation.

Now that Bolsonaro's legal issues are heating up I kind of want to write something about how the Democrats followed the path of Lula, Trump would be in jail and not president-elect

Again, I'll point to UIUC and the Salita case.

My students learn about this in one of my courses because it shows how influential a very wealthy donor can be - and how they can influence the BoT and upper admins.

Let them do it once and they'll forever believe they can affect other behavior.
The deal here is "I am rich and have given you money, therefore I should decide what should be taught and what students should be admitted"

New episode of the Learning & Labor podcast talks about an underlooked progressive figure in US and Illinois history: John Altgeld. Now commemorated across Illinois, Altgeld was hated by the elite during his lifetime for his defense of workers. Check it out here:

Cultivating socialist culture is really important for the development of our movement. I was lucky to attend a great example of that this past summer, with Dutch youth socialist organization ROOD's socialist summer camp.

it seems like bluesky is more likely as a true twitter replacement than threads, tbh. threads theoretically more people on there but it doesn't seem like anyone really uses it and my feed is still very corporate and clean rather than showing posters I like.

The University of Illinois and wasn't just founded on stolen indigenous lands.

The Morrill Act of 1862 which created UIUC - and other land grant institutions - was predicated on theft of millions of acres of native land.

I love that Bob Menendez's corruption involved literal bars of gold, that's such a fun throwback
