I have designed and built a new kind of roller skate plate (the part between the boot and the wheels that does the steering). It's been a good way to learn more about machining and CNC as well as design for manufacturability.
4 matching parts of a roller skate prototype after (mostly) CNC machining, raw machined aluminum looking shiny a small fixture block used to hold parts at the correct angle for some of the operations is also included a pair of the same parts, cut from a single piece of aluminum stock, is shown after the first set of CNC milling operations is complete there is a thin remaining layer of aluminum connecting the two parts at the bottom, which will be cut away when the parts are flipped over for the second machining setup a slightly outdated exploded/assembly view of the front of a plate, showing various custom and off-the-shelf parts as many parts as feasible are standard fasteners or existing skate parts for convenience a blurry picture of the first rolling prototype, taken while skating

I do darkroom printing. Motion blur cannot be produced in the darkroom that would look like this.
