Another Rob Braxman video about how dodgy Windows is getting.

I don't regret installing Linux (Mint/Cinnamon) on my potato laptop and starting to learn the things. My main PC is gonna run Windows a bit longer (I don't change my workflow mid-project), but can recommend start planning the switch.

I do miss my old friend "Should not be capturing when there is a hotcontrol"

I have a new friend now: "[Worker1] Import Error Code:(4)"

What the discourse tells me is, a lot of people really want to play an atmospheric "show, don't tell" sorta game with no or minimal NPC interaction, where it's just the player and a dangerous possibly alien world to make sense out of

Let's ignore Prime 4 for a moment. Got cool recommendations?

Speaking of games on alien planets where people talk a lot, Blippo+ is super good!
Blippo+ on Steam
Blippo+ is a live-action, off-cable TV simulator. Channel-surf the stars and discover the staticky, radical world of Planet Blip through its soaps, sitcoms, news, weather, and talk shows. But don’t to...

The worst thing about life is, it's just too damn short. There's no way I'm gonna learn everything I want to learn in just a bunch of more decades.

Say I'm traveling from Copenhagen to Belgium by train, and will stop for a night on the way

What's a cool place to check out? Makes most sense in the Netherlands or west of Germany

Competition! The person with the most uses of goto in your current project wins. Only gotos you personally added counts

So, vampires don't have reflections, right?

Has this been a game mechanic? It'd be kinda awesome in a game about either vampire hunting or survival where you don't know who's a vampire and they're trying to blend in.

Wait, there's a Steam Machine now?

How well do you reckon SteamOS 3 on a Steam Machine works as a general purpose Linux distro, if one wants to use it as a PC? 'cause sounds like it could make Linux more popular in a time when Windows is going an ugly direction

I think I'm phasing out File 1, 2, 3 and replacing it with File A, B, C

My code is 0-based and I need to get rid of that annoying UI/code mismatch

whew, doing major refactoring of my game's UI code

Going surprisingly smooth though. A nice thing about being on the experienced side of programming is, I can revisit earlier code and understand it well

Now a few weeks of boring work coming up for my game. Menu UI, menu code, menu stuff, more menu stuff, fallback text renderers, input customization. Oh god.

I move away from Unity, I hope to build a solution for this where it's part of my engine, rather than implemented per-game.

For two days I've been like "It's so weird, it's like my game has gotten quieter and I need to increase the system volume further to hear it"

I finally found the answer! I had reduced the volume in the game's menu

NPC dog traversal algorithm worked! The calculated jump vector to get the correct jump arc was flawless!

Only I had messed up another algorithm, so the dog went to the opposite side of the platform to initiate the jump

Wishlists would be super appreciated: store.steampowered.com/app/4090240/...

Tho I certainly have my Linux criticisms, wow my potato laptop runs soooooo much faster with Mint than Windows

like, wow, the difference is bonkers

Supraland Six Inches Under has outrageous out of bounds exploration, maybe the most I've come across. Practically everything has colliders, there are so many tricks for escaping the confines

Combine this with a Dark Souls "leave messages on the ground" and you'll have my favorite game in the world

Today's Linux Mint experience:

Googles "mint task manager". Finds post where someone asks what the Mint version of task manager is. Replies instantly start talking about terminal commands

Real answer is ofc it's called "system monitor" and is perfectly launchable via the Start Menu equivalent
