Pain levels aren't good today. The early snow has all melted and I feel about as energetic as slush.

My cape might not be big enough for me to disappear into the woodlands yet, but Boofle already fancies himself as a tree elf. #naturecrochet

Tonight's my 14th & last book-related event for the term. So grateful my limited energy has lasted (with many recharge sessions). I've spoken in bank vaults, museums, libraries, bookshops, rewilding sites & round the fire in an Iron Age roundhouse. It's been a ball!

Spent a lovely day in Leeds while my eldest was on an engineering scholarship course. Trod in a huge puddle, enjoyed being surrounded by northern accents for the first time in about eight years, and signed not one but two copies of Land Beneath the Waves!

Enjoying the fading evening light from the train before the clocks send us back in time to those winter dark ages...

There's something pretty special about being able to help people with their confidence who aren't as far along the writing journey as me - the way other writers have supported me.

It's lovely to be able to give back. And a heartfelt thank you to everyone who's been there for me over the years.

I have wine, a cosy spot by the canal and a Whodunnit. I've got that Friday feeling! 😄

Well I never. First time I've been into a bookshop to sign Land Beneath the Waves and found all four of the anthologies I'm in, there too! #booksky #naturewriting @summersdalebooks.bsky.social

Hello Birmingham. It's been a long time! Looking forward to leading a workshop at the university tomorrow. In the meantime, I'll be rediscovering a city I last visited in my twenties when my boyfriend of the time lived nearby.

Very enjoyable session giving the keynote talk at the @cprecountryside.bsky.social Countryside Day and chatting to folk afterwards. Loved the children's art competition entries too! 🤩

So hard to finish me tea and biscuits by the sea and head home. But needs must and I feel lucky to have had a few days working here.

I've possibly crocheted the ugliest sock in the world. Not very comfy either. But you have to start somewhere! 😂
