this. I don’t WANT a car. I don’t want to drive. I like public transit, walking and biking. I would just like drivers to understand that and understand the need for protective laws for non driving. I don’t want to die for their need for “gofast”
“We can’t all be expected to bike.”

Fair. But that’s not the point.

“Not everyone can or wants to bike. But some people can & do—and they deserve a safe, efficient, affordable way to move through the city. It’s about freedom of choice.”

This & other useful comebacks, in @momentummag.bsky.social.
Your Comeback Guide to all the Anti-Cycling Arguments You’ll Hear This Year
Anti-bike arguments aren’t just frustrating—they’re outdated, inaccurate, and often repeated without a shred of evidence.

There’s also been uproar here over a construction company’s demand to close a major bike underpass that over 5k use a day and connects the city east west. they want to close it for 3 yrs.

Uh. no. Hopefully there’s a lot of pushback. 3 yrs is fucking stupid to close a major access point.

At least the objectionable dude now is “but housing shortage and volatile politics, what about THAT”

We’re talking reducing cars you’re talking other issues. All could be solved but bike lanes in ams doesn’t actually cause housing shortages.

at least he’s not “But FLAT AS A PANCAKE”
Remember this picture, & others like it, every time you hear someone in your city say "we're not Amsterdam."

This was #Amsterdam in the 1970s.

Many of the cities we admire made better choices regarding cars in the past. and are still making better choices today.

Better choices instead of excuses.

Putin and Russia are counting on their asset, the US Government, giving them the win in Ukraine that their overrated and incompetent army couldn’t deliver.

The party that practically shat itself in fear and instituted near stripdown searches post 9/11 is ok letting the free market decide if that container of food is “eh, close enough to safe.”

Triangle Shirtwaist fire redo, anyone?
Republicans plan to challenge stop sign and building fire alarm mandates, declaring that these issues should be addressed by the free market

I find myself working at a company now that aligns with my experience and skills, but because there’s no official “masters degree” in the skills I have, but experience and patchwork higher education, I can’t see how I’d maneuvre my resume into a long term with this company either.

Why do so many erotica novels seemingly centre around the woman held captive by either paranormal dudes, rich powerful loners, criminals, cults or some flavor of the above? Like must it be some kind of forced thing? Did i miss a memo?

A job that turned me down with ALL the experience and expertise they wanted, because i didn’t answer a question the recruiter never asked, has now been unfilled for a whole year.

I’d send them cake but they don’t deserve cake.

It's nice to know that our Congress has surrendered to our president the power to issue emergency taxes on his own citizens because another nation aired a commercial he didn't like.

The absolute fuck.
