Haven't received as many contributions as usual for this year's lists--could be many things, but one aspect is surely that our ability to get this in front of people is much diminished. If you know folks whose stuff should be on here, please suggest it! contingentmagazine.org/yearly-pub-l...
Publications by Non-Tenure-Track Historians
Since we began publishing in 2019, Contingent has published end-of-year lists of books and articles by non-tenure-track historians released in the past calendar year. To submit something for inclusion...

It's a dark time for artists. Many are struggling!

It's easy to buy gifts online. When you buy from *artists*, you're supporting working people, instead of making rich jerks richer.

This fall, send your present $$ to an artist's shop!

Artists! Drop your shop links!

We still have our foster cat! Currently, you can name your adoption fee for Catalina (through PAWS in Philadelphia). If you're in the greater Philadelphia area and are looking for a new friend, maybe Catalina is for you. 😽
Philadelphia region peeps: Looking for a chill lap cat? Consider adopting Catalina from PAWS! She's been our buddy for several months but would love a permanent home with you. Let me know if you have questions. Learn more here: phillypaws.org/adopt/animal...

Anyone thinking of donating to a food bank, here are things mine always needs: no salt added, low sodium, no sugar added canned vegetables, tomato products, fruit, beans, and meat. They need nut butters, oil, whole grain crackers/rusks, cereal and oatmeal, rice, pasta, shelf stable milk.

You can cook food for your neighbors. Set a free pantry box outside of your place. Pool money with your coworkers if someone at work has young kids or an elderly relative that likely has SNAP.

You don’t have to pry into people’s business, you can just do things & make it known help is available.

Why would my shrubby St. John's wort (Hypericum prolificum) be blooming on October 27 in South Jersey? #NativePlants

Halloween is next week. Why not take the opportunity to hand out actual useful information along with the candy? Give the candy to the kids and zine to the adults...

In case you can't tell, I spent my evening organizing #nativeplants seeds for this year's winter sowing etc. I have 29 spp. I plan to sow, most already planted around the yard - I'm shooting both for more volume and to give them away next year. Growing 11 spp. from seed for the first time. 🌱

Would like to offer #NativePlants seeds+"cow pots"+soil+winter sowing instructions for Halloween. Thoughts on which seed(s) would be easy/nearly no-fail? NJ on DE River. I gave out seeds last yr but want to give them an even better chance of becoming plants. Many thanks for help (or sugg against)!

The coalition that put this together is hosting a mass follow up call on Tuesday 10/21.

But local groups can use the momentum to actually offer concrete ways for people to do things together. Take the opportunity. Folks want to be involved.

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

Catalina is still looking for a home...she has been with us as a foster through PAWS (Philadelphia) since February. If you know someone who is looking for an independent cat who also likes laps and windows, please send her info along to them!
