The first snowfall of the year. When the kids are most giddy with energy, the crunch beneath your feet is incredibly satisfying, the fresh briskness of the air cools your lungs, and the dumbasses who can’t park when the lines are visible now have carte blanche. Ah, the beauty of the season.

I’m 4, maybe 5 minutes into Death by Lightning, and I’ve already belly-laughed twice. With McFayden and Offerman, I expected it to be a bit more light-hearted, but holy shit, we’re already entering “Damn, I wish I wrote that” territory. What the hell am I watching?!? #Scriptsky

“On his way up the corporate ladder, Ambitious Allister’s inability to say ‘no’ has put him in some rather peculiar positions, but ending up in the ring with a boxing legend for the entertainment of the executive team might take the cake.”

A recent Christmas tradition in our house has been watching who/whydunits, so in anticipation of Wake Up Dead Man, we watched Knives Out. I love so many elements of the movie, but my favourite bit is the mug. It's perfect and clever af, and something I wish I had written (whole movie included).

The greatest thing about taking photos to feed my creativity is that it reminds me how good it feels to actually finish something (and quickly) 😅 #scriptsky

Here are a few photos from the weekend from around my abode! Different vibes, same location.

We stumbled upon karaoke night at our local rural watering hole. That shit stresses me out because I think I want to join in, but I also don’t want to, you know? So, anyway, I sang 7 songs. I fuckin butchered Turn the Page, & absolutely annihilated “Fuck Her Gently” and cemented it as my new “go-to”

One day I’ll have new material, but for now, you get a blast from the past with HELEVATED. Some of my best gags went into this short script, including a friendly Blackbeard as a foreman, and a character damned to an eternity of being stung by a swarm of bees every hour. #FirstPageFriday #ScriptSky

Here’s 3 pages, starting on the 3rd page of my comedy WIP “All For Yacht.” Like Leah, I’ve been thinking about this one lately. As flawed as it is, I can’t seem to quit it.

This scene showcases one of my favourite visual gags: Funny things going on in the background #ScriptSky #ThirdPageThursday

In a frosty backyard, a large snowball rests where there’s no snow and a folding table sits empty next to an unlit fire pit. Silent. Cold. Lifeless.

The best part of social media is yelling stuff into the ether and not expecting anything to come of it, then magically, that’s exactly what happens!

Dark rural road. Pre-dawn. An owl flutters over the adjacent field. A wolf howls in the distance.

This is a great offer (and trust me, Nick has a GREAT eye for design!).

Just because you can tap into the same tools that seasoned designers use, doesn't mean you have the years of experience and skills that professional designers have to make projects shine. 👇 #Scriptskty
Hey #ScriptSky! I saw some comments about creating posters/graphics to market your scripts, and even though I can't offer up my design services (I’m not designing much right now & lack the proper software), I would love to offer my (free) eye for design if you ever need constructive feedback 1/4

Read through my latest rewrite and hot damn, it’s awful! Funny as hell (IMO), but more structurally unsound than a 20-year-old weathered lawn chair. And I’m talking one of those weaved mesh chairs that that one uncle of yours always ended up destroying. #scriptsky #screenwriting

For the morning #scriptsky crowd 🔽

I want to help fellow writers any way I can, and providing feedback on design takes me significantly less time than providing feedback on stories! 😁

More creative energy spent on Lego #photography instead of #screenwriting 😂The script will rewrite itself one day, right, #scriptsky?

The sunsets are immaculate, and the lighting is spectacular, which makes up for the darkness that consumes the area by 4:15 pm.

Rooster artwork by my super creative wife, who can make art with any medium (Coloured pencils in this case.) it’s honestly unfair how good she is.

My 4yo informed me today he likes “pooping in the dark” and I instantly started singing in my head “You and me go poopin’ in the dark. Lyin’ on our backs and counting the farts” and I laughed and laughed and laughed.

Look out, Weird Al.

Play the song ‘Kryptonite’ to 100 millennials and at least 100 will sing along.

I should also add that it’s my most favourite time of the year when your beverage get’s colder the longer you take to consume it.
Snow on the ground? ✅
Air cold enough to chill the beers? ✅
Excess cardboard from the move? ✅
Fresh firewood under the tarp? ✅
A firepit begging to be lit?
A penchant to illuminate the night sky? ✅

That’s right. It’s a backyard firepit kinda night.

I had some time to write this morning, so instead of working on my feature rewrite, I spent over an hour setting up a scene with my Lego to take 40 photos then spent another hour writing the short caption 😂 #Scripsky This is why I make little progress. It was fun though.
