This logic obviously doesn't scale. Sure raw pumpkin is unappetizing, but so are the roots we make bitters from, or raw squash (same thing, I guess) or uncooked vegetables of most kinds. Sweet potatoes should already be on the table with a nice crust, making the pie redundant.

Hard disagree. Cornbread dressings lack of substance and texture doesn’t hold up to the other dishes. Plus when the cranberry sauce gets near it, that’s a disaster, unlike real stuffing where the blend is perfect.
